My state paper has a healthy "Guns and Ammunition" section in the classifieds. Just wondering about other geographical areas and the status of their papers.

This is supposed to be a poll, but I am not sure if the poll is going to work. The answers are:

1. Yes, our paper has a Guns section
2. No
3. We have more than one widely circulated paper, and one doesn't and one does.

Well, I guess I should have not anticipated learning anything. Where are the locations of the 3 "no" votes so far? Just wondering if this is an eastern, western, or big metropolitan area thing.

The local daily paper takes gun ads for the Sporting Goods section of the classifieds, but few use it because of the cost. The weekly 75-cent(?) Trading Post has been much more popular for many years. An on-line subscription is $10.80 for 3 months.

I think it is free here for small items, e.g., below $20,000. Either that or you get free ads from Sunday through Wednesday. The main thing is that the paper accepts them IMO. I look at them every day because every once a while in a month of Sundays, there'll be a bargain.

I was just looking to find out what other members' situations are.

I don't buy or read the local papers because they are left-leaning fish wrappers...and I don't fish.

If I want MSM crap, I can turn on the TV or cruise the 'net. Both are free.

So unscientifically speaking, roughly half of us can perform FTF transactions through the want ads and half cannot.

I feel a certain amount of privilege being able too. Does anyone feel deprived?

Fella's;

I've lived up & down the Rocky Mtn. West most of my life. There's always a guns section in the want ads. Even in the Gannett owned leftist fish wrapper Great Falls Baboon, er Tribune.

NO! I live in Key West, Fl, the Southernmost and liberalist city in the USA. Most of the people here hate guns, they pay no mind to the increased crime in this little tourist town. Of course I'm prepared or I wouldn't be on THR.org.

i had to vote no because the guns are listed in the sporting goods section and occasionally thrown into the misc.

there are almost always guns listed but usually i bit pricey i do better at yard sales.

The two newspapers I get (Knoxville and Morristown) have gun advertising, but in the "Hunting and Fishing" and "Sporting Goods" sections, respectively. So I was not sure how to vote. The Phoenix paper had a "Guns/Knives" section in it.

The most common here is actually a website run by the owners of one of the major papers and news stations. It is free so it has stolen the thunder of the press classified which do have a gun section.

That said the prices people want are often plain silly. They seem to think that used makes something appreciate in value. I can buy the vast majority of what is on there new for less.
