Maryland...A Brady Bill Top 5 State /puke
How's that for irony? I was checking to see where we fell on the Brady Bill page so I could use it as sad commentary in my Location button and I followed a link to ceasefire MD...BAM! Threat detected. I hit the heal button and my puter is still safe...if only my 2A rights could be fixed that easily :banghead:

Google for: ceasefire maryland
and they will warn you also, so this has been there since at least the last time google crawled the page.

I'm torn. As much as I do not like this group, I don't want malware infecting the internet. Malware hurts us all.

How's that for irony?
Irony? Hardly, simply a matter of the truth.
The only larger virus in the US is from Billie Gates (remember how he pushed gun control,
and was severely defeated?). :what:

It appears that the folks that owned the names "Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse, Inc." and "Ceasefire Maryland, Inc." forfeited their corporate charters with the state of Maryland. One of the natives noticed this event and has successfully filed with the state of Maryland to own those names.

This may cause some minor problems for the anti's there.

Google still has a warning about the web site but here's a link to the newsletter of the org that now owns those names.

I don't have anyway to check on the validity of this but it does sound like fun and games.

If C96 is correct, then we may not need the following info, however I would still attempt to get the malware removed no matter who now owns the site. Below is a link to the web host abuse contact email as well as some information to include for a complaint regarding the malware. However, if the Admin contact for the domain is on our side, maybe a few simple emails to Chris McGrath <[email protected]> will do the trick. I'll send one and see what happens. If I don't get a response, I 'll contact the web host for the domain:

To whom it may concern:
It has come to my attention that a web site hosted on your network is infecting visitor's computers with malware. The offending domain is ceasefiremd.org, located on 74.126.194.251.

Thank you in advance for your quick action to remedy this problem.

It's an iframe exploit - part of an automated takeover of legit sites. It tries to get malicious code hosted elsewhere to install to your machine, so avoid this site for the time being.

you can try

Here's a VMware program to protect your computer if you want to go to "questionable" sites:
http://www.sandboxie.com/
Think of it like a condom for your browsing. It isolates your browser or any other program, so it can't infect the rest of the computer, then when you close sandboxie, it erases any malicious program.

What was said in a previous post is true.

Ceasefire MD failed to file their corporate papers and they were scooped up by a group truly dedicated to gun safety in MD. :D

I can't help with all of the computer lingo, though

Hackers and anti gunners used to attack and SOME still attack MSN, YAHOO and other mass pro gun, political, etc. groups and forums on the WWWeb along with 'chats'.

You have to be careful with some gun and political boards too. Enough said.

Sometimes there can be links that lead to other links or software in bedded in people's posts that may or may not screw up your computer NO matter how many firewalls, virus protection and other 'safety' devices that you use. Sometimes people may or may not know that the software that they are USING in those various things can be infected @ the software's main website too.
