Looking for first hand info on the large Timberwolf frame by Lone Wolf. I currently own a G20 and G21, both are Gen 4 guns. They are just not fun for shooting a lot of rounds as they are bigger than my hands fit well. The thought of a G17 size grip has me looking hard and ready to buy one. But I have a few questions for folks who own them:

1. What textured frame? Is the standard texture close to the Gen 4 Glocks? If someone bought the “tread” or “Hex”, how is it grip-wise? Not about looks...I want something with good “grippiness”

2. What is the quality of the Wolf parts kit? Is it on par with Glock OEM? Better? If not, what Glock parts fit (where there are differences...) 21 size or 17 size?

3. Any regrets or other “lessons learned” you’d like to share?

Appreciate any responses.

Thanks! Buzz

Since no one else has chimed in, I’ll give my $0.02. I’ve always been impressed with their stuff. I have a few of their slides and have purchased their barrels and other small parts.

1. I would personally prefer the non textured frames.
2. I think the stuff is on par with glock if not better. I’m not one to fall for “trinkets” so I’ve never purchased the crazy triggers some companies offer. If its glock vs lonewolf for the same exact part, I’d go with the cheaper option. You will need glock 21/20 parts, not 17/22 unless it is a universal part. Their website is good at letting you know specifically what you need.
3. I have no problems giving them my money and they are easy to deal with. I purchased one of their barrels and decided to return it and it was an easy return. They definitely know their stuff and I’ve always been impressed with their customer service.

Thanks! The serialized items are non-returnable but if the company has good CS, I suspect they will try and make things right if there are issues.

Just took a peek. At basically $300 shipped for a complete lower I think it’s a win....mostly due to the changeable backstraps. Don’t think the 80% frames offer this? Dont remember.

Would be pretty easy to recoup your $ if you decided to sell it if for some reason it doesn’t do it for you.

I've had a large frame Timberwolf frame for a little over a year now. Overall, I like it best of my large frame striker fired pistols.

1. What textured frame?
- I have the standard textured frame. I don't have any factory Glocks anymore, but from my memory, I'd estimate the standard Timberwolf texture is slightly more aggressive than the Glock. Overall, I think it's just what's needed and I'm happy with it.

2. What is the quality of the Wolf parts kit? Is it on par with Glock OEM? Better? If not, what Glock parts fit (where there are differences...) 21 size or 17 size?
- From my experience the Lone Wolf parts are at least as good as the factory Glock parts. I almost always clean up either Lonewolf or Glock parts a little prior to installation; the injection molding process is somewhat imprecise and the metal parts get de-burred/polished. The large frame uses Gen 4 Glock 20/21 parts.

3. Any regrets or other “lessons learned” you’d like to share?
- No regrets; the Timberwolf frame is great. I'd recommend buying a bare frame and the Lone Wolf parts kit and installing it yourself. You'll understand the weapon system better. I'd polish the trigger bar, get a 3.5 lbs trigger connector and get a 6 lbs trigger spring while you're in there. If it's a EDC weapon, that's all I'd do.

If you want something with a light but reliable trigger, get the Glockstore 3lbs connector: https://www.glockstore.com/black-ice?quantity=1&color=1

Also, I like the Lone Wolf aluminum trigger shoe, but I've installed a Suarez flat shoe before and it's nice. Other trigger shoes are nice, but seem over-priced to me.
