I've been blessed with a M1A Scout Squad courtesy of a fine Airman down in San Antonio that had to sell it for his firstborn. I love this rifle,it's like kissing your teenage sweetheart for the first time.
However,it's a bear on optics and it's the old eyes and iron sights dilemma. The rifle originally came with a Bushnell pistol scope mounted on a front handguard pickaninny rail. I've tried the conventional scopes and mounts and other than make you think you're carrying a library book? It goes down hill from there.
So about 1200 rnds in the Bushnell develops a bubble in the upper right hand corner.

Long story short. What Long Eye Relief scopes do you recommend? I'm left eye dominant but thanks to some excellent PMIs,I'm comfortable either way and am good with both eyes. (That may have screwed me up with iron sights but?)

I really like Leupold's Scout scope. It's somewhat more expensive than many others, but seems to last more-or-less forever, and has the lifetime warranty if it doesn't.

FWIW, you may want to look up the difference between "pickanniny" and "piccatiny" before you end up confused about why you're in a fistfight.

Thank you much!!!
