Anyone here have an unfinished project that you have been putting off for a long period of time? Eight years ago I picked up a couple of 1911 lowers and enough internals and top end parts to build one of them. The other frame has been safely tucked away in the back of my safe ever since. My son is in need of a 1911 to play with (IDPA), and what do ya know! I ran across a parts kit in "Shooter's" catalog that contains everything I need to complete my project! I just sent the order off. The cost of the kit with shipping was about $290. I'll have about $325 in the gun once I get it built. I'll change out a few of the internals for aftermarket parts along the way which will run the cost up a bit, but I'll still come out with a nice, slick 1911 for a song. Feels good to be back on track! Anyone else have long term projects going?

Not firearms but:

I started rebuilding a 72 Cutlass around 2000-2001. Its still sitting in my garage not running. I have wanted to finish it again latley.

I've been trying not to set my house on fire for the past few weeks since I got my baseboard heat running...
So far so good.

I am putting off dying for as long as possible. This is one event where procrastination really pays off!

:neener:

My wife says I'm the king of procrastination! At least I'm not alone. The 1911 parts gun is but one of my uncompleted projects! Thanks for the replies.

My son and I are working on building a Factory Five cobra.

http://www.factoryfive.com/

I have a Winchester commercial BAR I am trying to restore. When I got it is had no stock, no mags. no rear sights and a few other parts missing, It is just about the same now. only now it has been cleaned, soaked in the blueing salts, reassembled correctly by my wifes great uncle, who did it eyes shut and in a couple of minutes just to prove he still could. I found mags and a stock, have not found a rear sight nor bipod. still missing forearm screws and safety lever. but I have only been fiddling with it for about 19 years.

Well, i've had a 20" a2 for some time, and eventually i picked up a car stock with the intentions of being able to convert her to a carbine as well. Well, I never got around to that, and have been trying to build an ar-15 carbine for some time off of that stock  eventually i'll get some of those lessor important features like the receivers... :p

I don't know if they're still in business, but I have a Socom Black Diamond AR15 lower that will someday be a complete rifle of some type. I bought it around 98 or 99.

Other than the AMT I that cant decide on rebuilding, nothing gun-wise.

I do however have a 1980 Mercury Zephyr two-door sedan, 351C (4V heads), C4 auto, non-AC heaterbox, subframe connectors, aluminum dash (two, actually, I have one for my other car), four-wheel disc brakes, bucket seats, B&M shifter, another fender (to replaced a crumpled one), smooth bumpers, three grille assemblies, battle boxes (somewhere), 3.73 gears (I think? I may have sold them), a custom switch panel for the radio opening, gauge panel for the console (both made by me), and I also have plenty of tools. I know thats not a complete car, but its a good start.

I havent done anything to it except un-bolt the motor, strip the interior and salvage a few parts off of it for my Fairmont. Not much though, just some wiring here, a vaccum line there, I think a side-marker lens and a bulb socket or two. It just sits in the garage, collecting dust, and whatever part I bought or made for it.
