this one is from forged 5160 spring steel with honey micarta scales. it is very lively for a 10" chopper. one of these days i might actually get to make one for myself.

I really like the blade shape on this.

Unfortunately, in my experience, most knives with finger grooves raise hot spots if you do any significant chopping.
 
thanks, yeah this one is a bit small to be used in a machete type setting. that is why most machetes have large, smoothly rounded handles. this is more a camp style knife. minor chopping, food prep, that sort of thing. for serious chopping you also are better off with a pretty weight forward design. this is one has a pretty neutral balance like most mid-sized knives do. a five inch blade doesn't make for a heavy duty brush chopper. i guess camp knife would be a better term.
