Longest Running?

For the last thirty or so years I have been reloading 38Special/357 magnum cartridges. That is the caliber that I have been reloading for the longest time.

What cartridge have you been reloading for the longest time?

In 1978 I bought my first center fire handgun and quickly deduced that it was hungry. So I bought the Lee hand loading kit for .38/.357, a pound of Alcan AL-5, 100 CCI primers and a box of locally cast bullets. 34 years later, I still have the gun, the Lee kit, some of my original reloads... and enough gear and components to keep my .357 and over a dozen other calibers fed for a very long time.

I started with .45 ACP & 30-06 in 1962.
Then .38/.357 a year after that.
Then 12 ga with a Lee Hammer Bammer, which grew really old in about a month.
I bought a shotgun press shortly after that.
Then .222 Rem about 1965.

.45 ACP & 9MM. Started with these two, with .38 Spl shortly thereafter.

I started with .30-06 in 1963 and added .38 Special about a year later. Now I'm up to 31 different calibers, and searching for more........

So in answer to the original question, I've been loading .30-06 the longest, 49 years.

In order, 12 ga. shotshell, 20 ga. shotshell, .270 win, .280 Rem, .357 mag., 44 mag., 30-06, 9mm, 7mm RM, .380 acp, 45LC, 30-30 .40 S&W, Beginning 3+ decades ago with the most recent being the .40 S&W shortly after it's introduction.

Started with 380 ACP in 1980 using a Lee hammer-matic loader.

Followed shortly there after by 38 Special/357 Magnum and 45 ACP (I forget which came first), an RCBS single stage press and other reloading stuff.

308 Winchester was the first rifle in 1981 or so.

Dad and older brother were already loading for 38/357, 45 acp, 243 and 30/06 when I was allowed to start reloading my own some 30+ years ago. Now to be honest the only one I have always actively shot and reloaded for the whole time is 357 because after I bought my 7X57 I gave Dad his '06 back and didn't start loading '06 again til I bought the garand I did the same thing with the 45 when I got my 10mm . I have basicly quit shooting a 243 even though I have owned one the whole time, it has sat in the safe unused waiting for my oldest daughter.

1990 I was taught to reload and cast 45LC and 30 Carbine. I still have a couple rounds from the first batch.

I started reloading 20ga shotgun ammo 44 yrs ago, I was still a young teenager then. 6 yrs later I started reloading 30 carbine, 308Win. A couple years after that I added 357 Mag and Rem 7mm Mag. No longer have the Steven's 20 ga shotgun, 30 carbine Ruger Blackhawk or my Browning BLR in 308. I kind of wish I still had the BLR but back then money was tight.

1978 I started reloading 12 gauge shells with a lee loader. I was a kid and enjoyed hunting in wyo. It was the cheepest way to keep me in ammo. My first press was and still is a Rock chucker. I bought a 221 fireball and then a 375 jdj. I saved all my brass from my 8x57 which was my first hunting rifle summer of 76 so I was off and rolling on the chucker 18 years ago and still enjoying it.

Started in 1974 loading .41 magnum and .30/06 a few months later.

When we got our press kit, we got .30-06 dies the same day and shortly after the .40 dies. We started loading both at the same time.

Sound's like some of those guy's have been loading since before I was even born yet.That's why this website is my favorite.There's alot of knowledgable guy's who use this site.

I started reloading in 1981 . I was 17 years old. I started with 12 Ga. and very shotly after that 38 spcl/357 Mag. , then 270 and about a year later 22 Hornet. Now I reload for 14 differant calibers. WOW hard to believe I have been reloding for over 30 years.

I actually started my reloading career with the 30-30 Winchester. I currently do not reload for it and haqve not for a few years.

The 38/357 though has been reloaded since I started.

I have been reloading shotgun for only a few years.

I started 2 years ago with 9mm then 45acp. I use a Lee Pro 1000 and then got a Lee Loader ( hammer bammer) for some 38sp. I have since loaded some rounds for my Mosin with the Lee Loader also.

I hope to still be reloading 10, 20, or 30 years from now. I've been reloading for a year. Started with .45 ACP on a Hornady LnL AP. I now also do 9mm Luger, .270 Win, .223 Rem. I've got everything I need (except a gun) for .357 Mag, 40 S&W, .44 Rem Mag, & .308 Win.

Seems like 30-30 was the first I reloaded too.
Some time in '66 if I remember right.
