What's your longest streak without a failure when it tomes to your semiautomatic pistols?
Mine currently stands at 7000 rounds with my glock 27.
I had a previous thread on here about my gen 4 glock 26 starting to have failures at the 400 round mark.
It got me to wondering how long some of you have gone with a particular fire arm with no failures.

May I suggest that replies include whether the long streak was with factory ammo or reloads.

I have not had a long streak, and I reload.

5,000 rounds in a Kimber Series I stainless that was only lubed - never cleaned.

It never failed, but I did break down and clean it when I opened the sixth case of ammo. The only malfunctions I've had with the pistol was failure to slide lock on empty, and only with one Metalform magazine.

All factory loads.

My old Ruger P90 went for years without a failure, and thats with whatever crap I fed it. Often it would shoot sketchy ammo that would fail in other pistols. No idea on round count, but certainly well into the tens of thousands of rounds It's not that it never failed, but the last few years I shot it it didn't, and the time previous to that only rarely.

I sold that gun a couple of years ago because it was shot out (the guy that bought it knew that), but hands down that was the best pistol I have ever owned. The guy that bought it put in new springs and a new barrel that he dug up from somewhere and still shoots it today.

My M&P9 is currently at 4,500 rounds. Not a single malfunction since it came out of the box.

Now, I cannot claim the same for my Glock 19 and 34. After replacing a laser max guide rod, the G19 has been flawless (about 2,000 rounds). My G34 has a malfunction about every 600-700 rounds (average).

My M&P9 started having FTEs at ~3000rds -- just needed to remove and clean the extractor. Some say the extractors need to be replaced, but not the case with mine. Now over 4000 rds and counting.

IMO with a good semi-auto, reliability depends less on the gun and more on...
--number of rounds between cleanings
--how thorough the cleanings are
--whether dirty ammo is used

My Gen 4 G21 is at about 4k now. Zero malfunctions. A LOT of that is Tula, Federal Champ, and PMC. Just started reloading last year, so I've been mostly reloads since then.

My G26 and G19 also have been flawless with everything I've fed them. The 19 is at about 1100 rounds, the G26 is around 3k. The only issue I had with the G26 was with a 9 year old limpwristing (confirmed that it was his grip).

FWIW, I clean my handguns after every 500-700 rounds. That includes frame and slide breakdown, thorough cleaning, then Frog Lube treatment. Any time in between, I just wipe the carbon off the slide and frame, and run a boresnake through the bore.

I'm somewhere around the 5k mark with my HK45, reloads and factory. No hiccups.

Though I will admit to cleaning it from time to time.

The XD45C that I carry daily has never had a malfunction of any kind. I bought it new. I don't know the exact round count but it's somewhere around 11,000. I stopped counting empty boxes at 10k rounds. This was all "factory" ammo but there was 500 rounds of crappy, soft shooting reloads in there that it barely functioned with... but it never failed to chamber or fire. I don't remember the brand, but that ammo really sucked. It was like the gun functioned in slow motion chambering the next round because it had so little recoil energy. My XD has seen just about every major brand of ammo as it's been through a few ammo shortages. I shot whatever I could find and it's never let me down. :)

Maybe a thousand rounds since one my my too-long-for-the-countour reloads locked my my CZ PCR.

If I only counter factory loads, it's never had a failure of any kind. So I'm calling it a win at around 2500 rounds so far.

My old stainless P85 and S&W6906 have never had a stoppage, not a real high count on those. Probably a few thousand each, mostly reloads some factory. Ruger Standard MK1 has had one but it's been years, probably a few thousand rounds since, not bad for a .22.

Seeing Dr. Rob's post inspired me to clarify.

Ive got a baby eagle in 9mm that's never hiccupped. Its a solid weapon...

Ive got an ak pistol that im SURE will NEVER hiccup..

My AK battle rifle has seen ten of thousands... cant recall an issue.

Without a failure or a stoppage of any kind?

Failure = catastrophic you need to repair the gun.

Stoppage = failure to seat a magazine (operator error), FTE, jam, stovepipe, etc.

1500 or so from a BHP clone. I broke an extractor tip at 5000 rounds. I shoot a mix of factory and reloaded 115-124gr fmj through it mostly.

My 6 year old G23 has not had one single failure. All 5000 rounds that have gone through it have fired and cycled perfectly. I spent years carrying it and also shot practical matches with it. It's been the the most reliable and trustworthy gun of my collection.

I've only ever had failures with a Benelli M1, G24, and a Tec-9. All running smooth as silk now though.

Sold a S&W 3913 about 20yrs ago with over 4,000rds through it without failure of any kind. Still regret selling it! Sold a 2nd Gen Glock 22 with about the same through it, no failures.

about 5k springfield gi, about 4k out of a ruger mk3, with an exact edge extractor

I'm a revolver man so the concept of counting rounds and counting to failure is foreign to me. But to answer the question, it would have to be my S&W 39 -- streak of successful feed, fire and eject, is "all of them"

When I bought a Norinco 1911 clone, I was told it was cheap Commie junk. I happened at the time to have a source of very inexpensive ammo so I decided to see how long the junker would last. I put 8500 rounds through it with zero malfunctions of any kind, and 1000 rounds through another Norinco with the same results. The ammo was Hungarian "Lake City" ball.

Neither gun ever malfunctioned, then or since, but I stopped counting. I like that kind of "junk", Commie or not.

I have a Glock 17 thats going to pass 60000 rounds sometime this winter. I also have a Glock 26 thats headed for 30000 rounds. I really cant say how long they went without some sort of stoppage, but generally, they run without issue, and the stoppages are actually not a common thing. They both have had ammo/reload related issues/stoppages at some point, as have ALL my guns, including my revolvers. Really no other issues/failures other than that, at least with guns known to be reliable otherwise.

No matter what, if you shoot a lot, youre going to have things happen, I dont care who makes the gun.

Ammo and mags are usually your weak link and problems related to them are an inevitability if you shoot regularly.

Hygiene can be an issue here as well. I am truly amazed sometimes at how many people dont clean their guns.

Most of my ammo related issues or stoppages are due to worn out brass (I load my brass to failure, and it gets reloaded a lot), especially the case rims in the autos, and the case mouths/necks in the revolvers. With the autos, "most" dont stop the gun from functioning, but I do get an occasional stove pipe or fail to extract with them, which is usually solved with a TRB.

My revolvers tend to be more of a problem when there is a problem, and theres usually more work and/or focus required to get it back in action, and many times, its required tools to solve it.

Personally, if I go by failures per round fired, Ive found the autos to be the more reliable of the two, and the one less likely to go completely down when there is a stoppage.

Since this is in the General handgun forum, can I answer with a revolver? I have never had a stovepipe in any of them ;)

Ill take a stove pipe over a jumped crimp or bullet stuck in the forcing cone. ;)

The only semi-auto (or anything else for that matter) I've ever counted rounds on is my Kahr CW-40. Just bought it a year or two ago but it's at 2,550 so far and it's flawless with every imaginable kind of ammo, from lead bullet handloads, to full power defensive stuff.

Hmmm

Russian made Makarov pistol......At least two full cases of ammo.....no FTFs.
Glock 36.....dont have a round count.....have the gun for three years....no FTFs.
