well, this sad, sad story began when i took the red-dot scope (and scope mount) off my ruger 10/22 last week. didnt have the retainer screws for the reciever (lost 2 of them) so i couldnt shoot my gun. instead of buying screws from brownells like i intended, i came across a pretty neat looking (HAHA) peep sight. i got it in the mail today...and my god is it rediculious!
seriously! look at that! maybe the picture doesnt do it justice...this set just plain looks silly on this lil rifle look at that peep sight! 001.jpg
i seriously dont know if i can shoot this thing...you dont realize how big this set up is...its like...eww. the front sight is literally one and a half times the height of the barrel. look at that peep sight! 004.jpg
well i think this should just be a lesson to all of us! make sure you know what you are buying before you check out online. tomorrow morning i am going to take her out and see how i can shoot. i guess if i can shoot pretty well it doesnt really matter what she looks like. they really should show these things mounted on rifles so ppl have a better idea what they are buying. for only a few dollars more i could have bought a much nicer set, guess i got what i paid for.

Are those tech sights? Are they fully adjustable for windage and elevation.

If they make tight groups and hit bullseyes why would you care how it looks?

If it makes you shoot better it looks fine to me :)

the rear appature is adjustable only...i thought the front post was when i bought it. and ya, if it brings my groups in i dont really care what it looks like i guess. maybe i over reacted...
i just put the thing on...looked at it...and pretty much came to the computer to gripe. lol...it helps me vent somtimes.

Looks no more silly to me than the AR or AK or any other rifle with a front sight tower. Besides - the TechSight people are first class. :)

well, i think i might have judged too quickly. while it is still ugly as hell, i went out this morning and fired about 100 rounds or so into a fist size hole at about 40 yards. really easy to sight in...2 turns to the right and moved up maybe a 1/32nd of an inch. it is pretty hard to see thru tho if i aim at something black or dark, but up against objects that are brighter then the sights it works fine. i still would have preferred something a little less goofy looking, but its alright. only bad thing is that the rear sight sits up so high i kind of have to turn my head a lil bit to comfortably shoot thru it. and yes it is that cheap a** zypher half-plastic system...but it seems pretty sturdy. still wish i would have spent the extra $12.00 to get the nicer one tho...w/ an adjustable front post and all. oh well, guess ill have to be content w/ this for a while.

yeah, the whole point is to get the other guys to laugh at your gun, then stop laughing when they see the groups. ;)

I'm reminded of the old saying: "If it looks stupid but it works, it's not stupid." :)

it will grow on you

The front sight reminds me of some WWII era German sights I have seen.

I always thought that it looked "rugged" or "cool" at least to me.

The aperature sight is my favorite, but it is the one on which I have had the most training.
