Just got from my friendly FFL a new addition to the family.

It's a H&K P7 PSP. Saw it in an ad in Shotgun News, and found they sell them mail order $100 cheaper than they sell them from their table at gun shows. Payment was received on Monday, delivered to my FFL before noon on Wednesday. First time using this FFL I found on Gunbroker's FFL search page, and it worked out great. Only charged $15 for the transfer, and did the background check on the internet in about 10 minutes.

I was real happy with the few signs of wear, and overall condition of the piece. Real nice and clean bore. Came with 1 magazine, and purchased a second new one. The original magazine is as clean as the new one. Original box, manual and a cleaning brush for the gas piston.

Now just to get some time at the range with it.

Very nice. I've been very happy with mine as long as i've had it. They are capable of exceptional accuracy.

Sweet looking P7! Hopefully, I can make I can pick one up (and a few mags) before they all dry up.

Very nice looking P7. Does the box indicate the slide was refinished? What is custom 41/40 Cote ? The gas piston looks brand new...wow, either it's been replaced or the gun's never been fired (or very, very few times).

Ok, stupid question here. I've never handled an H&K before, never really paid much attention as the price tags are WAY too high for my taste.

Anyway, is that a grip safety on the trigger side of the grip?!? :scrutiny:

That's the mag release on the M8 model. The original standard PSP, aka just as P7, has a heel release (European style). The magazines are not interchangeable

usp9, I don't know what the box code indicates. The part I blacked out was the serial number. Any others know about this?

The gun has been fired before I got it, there was carbon on the piston. Not much and pretty light, as if it had been cleaned pretty good, but not good enough to get it back to a mirror finish. I am extremely happy with it's condition. It's still the best price I've seen in the last two months.

halfded, there is no traditional safety on this gun. You squeeze the lever in front of the grip to cock the striker. You notice it protrudes out the back when you do that. Pulling the trigger then will cause a round to fire. If you decide not to shoot, you release the lever and the striker goes back to it's original position. Basically it's carried with a round in the chamber, hammer down (or striker in this case). Would be called "condition 2" on a 1911 type of gun. When you draw, you squeeze the lever and pull the trigger to fire, and it does not matter in what order. The gun will fire if you pull, and hold the trigger, and then squeeze the lever, or if both are pulled at the same time.

On the PSP, unlike the M8, you release the magazine from the heel of the grip by pressing the catch forward unlike most designs. This makes it quick and easy to grip and pull the empty mag out.

There is no lever to release the slide, you do that by squeezing the grip lever. Now if you want to lock the slide back, without an empty magazine, there is a little sliver of a metal lever behind the trigger(not that bigger piece right above the grip lever, but the real small piece above that) you must press while holding the slide rearward. That takes a little getting used to.

That button on the frame is for disassembly. You press it as you retract the slide back and lift it off the frame.

Once you handle this gun for 10 minutes you can get a real good feel for the quickness that it can be used, and the safety inherent in it's design. The lever can be held back with a lot less force than it takes to get it there, for more comfort. Also the lever does not have to be recycled each time the trigger is pulled, get a firm grip and fire like most other pistols. Will be shooting it for the first time this Sunday, hopefully with good results on accuracy and reliability. The function is second nature to me now after handling and familiarizing myself with it for a few days.

Blind Bat, I got mine from Bachman Pawn and Gun out of Dallas. Used their ad in Shotgun News. They do offer 1 new magazine for sale, to go with the one included in the box if you want when you purchase from them. Like I said, and confirmed at two shows, their price is +$100 at the gunshow. They only charged $25 to ship to my FFL.

That thing is an abomination. It's a filth scoundrel of a gun. God hates it and it makes babies cry!

So, you should send it to me and I will make sure it gets done away with...... ;).

Just kidding. Congrats, she's a beaut.

Your gun appears to be from the city in which i currently reside. Is that possible?

m2steven, that might be so.

Here is a response to a question that might shed some more light on your inquiry.

HK is no longer located in Trussville Alabama. We have Moved to Columbus, GA. The Office in Columbus is just a warehouse and sales office and does not offer tours.

Acera,

Congratulations on the gun! Real nice!

Hey, you mentioned on the "doing the background on the internet". How's that work? Did the local recepient FFL or the sending FFL do the online backgroud check?

Thanks.

BP Hunter the receiving FFL did my FBI check on the internet. I don't know what the seller did, they have very little information on me.

I have started calling them Pispees.

Mine is somewhat worn but that is the way I like it. Can always NP3 the thing.

earlthegoat2, that is an outstanding write up you have on these guns. I enjoyed reading it, and passed the link on to a few folks. I had a number of friends who asked "What the heck did you say you bought!?" LOL.

Good Job.
