I have been in the market for a snub-nose revolver now for several months. After much research, I finally decided on the 2.25" Ruger SP-101 chambered in .357 magnum. I already have a 4" GP-100 and I love the solid feel of the Ruger revolvers.

So... yesterday I went to my LGS to pick up a new SP-101 w/ CrimsonTrace laser grip and decided to take a look at the 1911 counter . I should mention that I have also been looking for my first 1911, but the snubbie was higher on the list due to it's practicality and ease of carry in the coming summer months (in the hot South here, so concealment is slightly more difficult in the peak summer months).

Anyways... I got the SP101, but let's just say a friend followed her home :D.

It is a very lightly used Dan Wesson RZ-45 Heritage in matte stainless steel finish with very nice aftermarket grips and very few signs of use. She has the match barrel and the tritium front sight. I doubt that this gun even has 100 rounds through it; in fact the shop owner said the previous owner quoted him around 50 rounds. Let me just say, this is one of the tightest 1911s that I have ever had the privilege of holding. The slide-frame fit is amazingly tight and close, and the slide movement is smooth as silk.

I proposed a deal to the shop owner that included the purchase of both the DW RZ-45 and the SP-101, as well as a leather Don Hume OWB holster for the 1911. I was able to also get him to include an extra used mag for the 1911 at no charge, as it only had the one. Additionally, he took a substantial amount off the price of both the SP-101 and the 1911. All said and done, the discounts took the effective price of the 1911 to approximately $900, which was very pleasing to me since this particular gun was originally priced on the shelf at $1075.

Just to clarify, the package deal gave me large discounts on all three items: the Dan Wesson RZ-45, the brand new SP-101 w/ laser, and the Don Hume holster for the 1911 (not pictured).

Needless to say, I will be returning to this gun shop for future purchases :D.

Rick,

That DW is so clean and uncluttered. I love it. Congratulations. Let us know how it performs once you've had a chance to take it to the range.
