I looked at an M11 in 300wsm yesterday. Nice feel. Sweet trigger. Action a little rough. The synthetic stock supposedly has a bedding block system built into it. But, there is only a hard rubber butt pad, no recoil pad.

Can the butt pad be replaced (ala screws) or is it glued on? I fear breaking a glue seal may allow subsequently glued on pads to fall off.

Can the Savage bolt be disassembled for cleaning ( such as Win, Rem, etc bolts) or does it require a gunsmith to do it?

How do they perform? Any function problems? Accuracy for 3 shot groups?

Yes.

Yes, all you need is an allen wrench for the BAS (bolt assembly/big arse screw).

Savages generally provide very good accuracy, though I cannot vouch for 300WSMs. Typical Savage issues are hard bolt lift due to how they cock and occasionally feeding issues, though the new-style 'centerfeed' magazine (been out for a while now) has generally resolved that. Also, Savage ejection tends to be a bit weaker than a Remington 700.

And, the barrel nut and Accutrigger are ugly. At least that is what Remington fans always remind us of :D

One quirk of the Savage in the WSM's is that they are 2+1 mag capacity vs 3+1 on all other guns. Why, I don't know. You can get 3+1 in all other magnum chamberings, and in all other brands, but the WSM cases are just enough fatter to not do it in a Savage. It probably will never be an issue, but to some it is a surprise when they get home and load it. If you look on their website it show this, but many don't read it close enough.

You can put 3 in the magazine, but cannot close the bolt on an empty chamber if your do, or top off with 1 in the chamber +3 in the magazine.
