Went out this morning and looked at a new hunting place. Friend finally invited Dad n Kid to hunt on his place. 7500 ft, 14.5 miles from home. Looked good, aspen/pine mix and some scrub oak. Migration route for Evergreen heard. We'll see what happens.

I've never hunted elk or Colorado,
But, will be going south of Montrose in the last week of the season.
8,000 feet.

- When's the rut?
- Will I be knee deep in snow?
- If there is over a foot of snow, do I need to hunt lower valleys?

Thanks.

John Galt:

1. Rut is generally late September, during bow season.

2. Probably, but not necessarily.

3. Again, not necessarily. Elk aren't usually pushed lower until much later in the winter.
