Looking for 30rd. magazines

You're likely to get a lot of varied responses on this one.

My recommendation is to stick with USGI magazines, with a few limited exceptions. By that I mean any magazine made by Okay, Colt, NHMTG (who makes Colt and Okay if I recall correctly) and Center Industries. I will also include HK in this list even though I don't believe they are USGI.

You will find that CProducts and D&H (the ones you listed) conspicuously absent from my list. I own many (30+) of those mags, yet I haven't included them on my list. Why?

The reason is that recent production CProducts and D&H mags have had issues. You can find threads to that effect in the Magazine subforum on ar15.com. I myself was the victim of one out-of-spec D&H mag -- it's a regular 30rd mag that won't feed more than 20 rds!

I am not saying that CP or D&H mags are junk. I have many (again, 30+), and will buy more. But not now. I will wait until they get their issues ironed out and then resume purchasing.

Until then, I'd say spend the extra jing and buy USGI or HK ($$$).

Justin

PS if you can find old Vietnam-war era 20s (Colts, Adventure Line, Simmons, etc.) they are also top notch.

30 round AR magazines have historically been problematic; testimony to this is the presence of so many refurbishing parts, particularly followers, that you'll see for sale at any gun show.

While they may not fit your definition of "decently priced," IMHO the way to go is with the HK Gen 2 30 round AR magazines. That's all I'll probably buy in the future, although they go for ~$40/each. I've had zero problems with mine, and I don't even load my other 30 rounders anymore.
