List...

I have always been a .45 kind of guy, but recently the 10mm has piqued my interest. Trouble is I cannot seem to find one in my area (Cheyenne, WY). Dealers I talk to say that the 10 is not a popular cartridge, that they never take them on trade, and that I am SOL.

I would like a used S&W 10xx series but cannot find any locally. Any ideas on where to find one for a 'reasonable' price ($300-400 or so) via the 'net?

Thanks.

But

Realize this, the ammo is considered "exotic"; therefore, it's not easy coming by "the real deal". The only 2 places that I'm aware of are: Double Tap and Georgia Arms. In my humble opinion, I'm a reloader, but I wouldn't shoot it if I didn't. In the long run, it's not worth waiting on a mail delivery to get the real ammo. Most places that I've seen that advertises 10mm (including my local range), is really selling .40 caliber. Buddy, there's a huge difference between the two.

Good luck!

Don't forget texas ammunition company

The Georgia arms stuff is very good for the money.

I'd buy a Witness. You should be able to get one for around 300 bucks (319 was a good price on dealer shelves NIB around me). Also for the Witness the only thing you need to shoot 40 SW out of it is a new barrel which costs about 85 bucks.

WY was actually the home of a 10mm manufacturer - Wyoming Arms, who had bought the design from Parker. (I think this may have been a descendant of the Bren Ten, but I'm not sure.) I've heard that you should plan on considerable smoothing and tweaking if you buy one - If you find one it's likely to be VERY cheap.

CDNN has Glock 20 trade-ins sometimes, and right now there are a lot of SW 10mm models available fairly cheap. As the other fellow said, the EAA is a lot of gun for not much money, though some have poor sight alignment.

Lots and lots more info at http://www.10mmtalk.com/ . Welcome to the club!

The 10MM is a fun cartridge to shoot. Its much easier if your a reloader but there is plenty of ammo to be had online. Locally, it might be a bit tougher.

Get one, you wont be disappointed. :D

Okay BOYS!!!!!!! ALL THIS 10MM talk--I'm about to start reloading my 10mm's tonight. Here's a hint, if you reload, use 13.5 grains of AA #9, using 180 grain bullets. GOOD LORD HAVE MERCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE TRY TO BREAK INTO MY HOUSE WHILE I'M HOME.
PLEASE GANG BANGERS, TRY TO CAR JACK ME WHILE I'M CARRYING ANY OF MY 10MM'S!!!!!!

Glock 20, S&W 1076 (if you can find one). I know a lot of you guys hate the "K" word, but I know a guy with a Stainless Target 10mm; this one is a gem!

I suppose we're spoiled at CCA here, since we have a stack of about 4-5 kinds of "exotic" 10mm ammo, all DoubleTap :)

Yeah! Heck, if a .45 can blow them five feet across the room, I imagine that a 10mm would just vaporize 'em!

As soon as Dan Wesson gets their prices back to sanity (have you SEEN what CZ's charging?!?), one of the Patriot Commanders is pretty high on my must-have list.

10mm ammo is "exotic" now? Oh brother. :scrutiny: 10mm ammo is only loaded by every major ammo maker. No it`s not as common as 9mm or .45ACP but I see a lot more of it around here than .38 Super,.357 Sig or .45GAP. You want exotic? Try feeding my .44 AutoMag. ;) Marcus

Lancerammo.com They sell new & reloads in 10mm. decent prices too. Had a few split cases on the reloads but the new worked flawlessly.

It's a shame that the FBI didn't stick with the full-house loads. The 10mm's flexibility may have led to its downfall--the ability to download it resulted in the brilliant :barf: .40 S&W.

Actually 40 S&W was a better round after the testing results came in. The biggest reason it one out over the 10mm was the 10mm would over penatrate. That & they said the recoil was to much for some of the female officers

Untrue. 10mm penetration numbers with JHPs are in line with .45 ACP JHPs, if you actually read the test results.

I really need to find me one of these. Those S&W stainless 10's sure are purty....

Hey does anyone know if you can use a S&W 40 in a 10mm?

My Delta elite is kinda expensive to shoot. 40 S &W is cheaper...

In an emergecy, I suppose you could.
I don't believe I would at the range. It works just fine in my smith 610, but it's designed to, I don't believe that autos are designed to work this way....

I think you can get conversion barrels to do it right for less than you think.

The ten is a reloader's cartridge, you may consider reloading for it, or talking to one of your reloader type friends to see what he would charge you....

The only 10mm that'll shoot .40 is a S&W 610 Revolver. Even with that, you have to use a moon clip. Funny thing, someone made a comment about my 10mm being "exotic". Dude, I'm a reloader and I've been shooting 10mm for a long time. Learn this, just because they say it's 10mm ammo doesn't mean that it's the real deal. Speaking from 1st hand knowledge, the only factory ammo that I've personally used that's the real deal is from Double Tap and Georgia arms. I've used other so-called 10mm ammo, even from my beloved range and guess what--it's not the real deal. Go to any reloading recipe site, (every powder manufacture has them) and do a comparision of 10mm vs. .40
Unfortunately, there are alot of people out there that are getting turned on to 10mm but are not aware that 99% of the stuff that they're shooting is not actual 10mm ammo.
I'm not about to turn this into a sophmoric debate but I'm speaking from experience and not theory.
