or, if you've got tons of money and the right connections, do a google picture search on the AMP DSR-1

DSR is grossly overpriced and from the accounts of folks that own or have shot both not as accurate as the much more affordable Desert Tactical Arms SRS; it too is available in .308Win. I have one (in .300WM chambering) and I love it, a fantastic shooting rifle, but the build quality and somewhat innovative design (very innovative if you discount the DSR, which was undoubtedly its precedent) from a rather small company comes at a pretty steep price.

The Walther WA-2000 and KelTec RFB also fit the bill, but only one of these choices are economical for someone seeking a medium range target gun. The RFB promises to be a pretty decent shooting rifle at a fairly affordable price...will it stack up to the other three, most certainly not, but you must remember that you are comparing it to some of the finest long-range precision rifles on the market. I'd bet it shoots pretty decent, for a semi-automatic rifle in a bullpup configuration...Lord knows I have bested some of my friends with ARs using my little M17S bullpup. I plan to purchase one as soon as I can get my hands on one, unless I discover that a .260Rem. version is upcoming.

I've been looking at every gun show.
There's your problem unless you want jerky or overpriced Joe reloader ammo go to Gun Broker. I have seen a few RFBs on their as well as Guns America.

who do you know that owns both (or just the DSR-1)? i'd really like to read those accounts

I don't personally know anyone that has shot a DSR, much less both the DSR and the SRS. I have only read a couple of accounts of folks that have shot both. If memory serves me one guy was a previous DSR-1 owner, but sold his to buy a SRS instead. He said accuracy was much better. Another couple gentleman (or women) chimed in saying that they too had shot both and preferred the SRS as well. I don't remember where I saw the accounts, but IIRC all of the folks were Canadian. I came up empty handed with a quick search...I will update if I come across it; it has been quite some time since I read it (approx. 1.5-2yrs ago, when I was researching buying the SRS myself).

Using a different search string I did come up with this brief comparison, but this is not the thread that I was referring to. In this one, one member states that he loves the DSR, someone else seems to have little experience with either but states that he prefers the SRS, another likes the SRS better, but he is employed by them so we can discount that comparison.

If you have a M1A, you could try the SRSS.
That is laughable. I sent them an e-mail over a year or so ago with a slew of questions (cost, trigger quality, safety, et al), didn't receive a response for about a year...even then they only provided a cost list, no other questions were answered. Needless to say, I responded that I was no longer interested in the design or any of their products.

Additionally, my experience with bullpup conversion kits has been dismal at best. Most often the build quality is poor (poorly designed plastic structural components abound), the triggers horrible, and I find the ergonomics (specifically WRT the placement of controls) detestable. I can't comment on this one, but I have a difficult time believing this one will perform much better.

Nonsense, I've never failed to beat Gun Broker prices by less than 10-25% at our local gun shows.

I'm not big on buying things sight unseen either.

Obviously Texas gun shows are better than NM gun shows... But maybe that's just one more thing that's better about Texas.

You probably got me there. I went to gun show in one of Texas' smaller cities Wichita Falls, and it far out shined the ones here in NM's biggest city of Albuquerque.

I've seen four RFBs locally, at prices between $1800 and $2200, and I'm not in gun shops that often. I've heard stories of more. Seeing as how only 450 or so have been made, that makes Seattle a great place to find an RFB.
