I'm looking for a .44 lever action with pistol grip stock and curved lever instead of the straight stocked versions offered by Marlin and Puma etc, is anyone aware of any being made past or present? I've seen them offered in 45/70 and 444marlin but not .44mag

Help anyone?

Cheers,

Dan

Supposedly, Marlin made a 1894 model in this configuration somewhere along the way. I've been looking for one for at least five years, and haven't found one yet.

Thank Jim March who has an excellent memory: http://www.jbcustom.com/new-mares.htm

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes peel for an older one.

The JB/WWW style pistol is what I want to build, but need to start off with something with a pistol grip stock, may try swapping one out for a .41mag stock and lever then?

I think that would be a great plan.
I own a Marlin 1894 in .41 Mag and they are about as common as chicken lips.
The 1894FG on the other hand are quite common (at least I see them all the time on Gun Broker).
I think finding someone who wants a shooter rather than a collectors piece would be pretty easy and switching out the barrel bolt shouldn't be to hard.
I am not positive but when I looked at my buddy's 1894 in 44 everything else was the same.
As you can tell from the photo I like .41s (there is another 58 that didn't make the photo)

I have seen a few of the 1894 Marlins with pistol grips floating around. I handled one at a gun show, and it felt good in hand. I just prefer the straight grips on all but the heaviest recoiling rifles.
