Im looking for a 9mm to buy as my next handgun. Right now I have a Walther P99 in .40 S&W. Im looking for a price like $500 or less. I love the looks of the ruger P235 but the .45 ACP ammo is too epensive to be buying (im only 16). I know most of you will say get a glock but im not sure of that yet... ill have to rent one a few more times.

yeah i was thinking about the XD, but im getting tired of striker (and polymer) pistols. I have 2 walthers now but i do love them. anyways thanks for the input.

If money is an issue, consider a Ruger P89. Another choice may be a 1911 in 9mm, but you aren't likely to find one for under $500, even used. The same is true of a Browning HP, though if you don't mind spending a bit over $500 you should be able to find one.

My stock CZ-75B is one of my most accurate pistols. If you want a reliable, accurate and durable firearm, that's a good choice.

hands down. The BEST 9mm out there is a Beretta 92.. If you shoot one you will love one.. No plastic frame in that gun:) :neener:

I have the CZ-75B very accurate Picked it up for $300 used have not regretted it one bit

The XDs are great guns, but the poster stated he has a Walther P99 and doesn't want another striker-fired poly gun.

If money is extremely tight, you might want to consider a Bersa, though I would probably spend a bit more and go with a Ruger.

CZ75B or FNP-9

One is steel frame, the other polymer.
Both are hammer-fired, both have at least 15 round capacity (the CZ is 15, the FN is 16 assuming factory mags in both)
Both are great values and are a joy to shoot.
CZ is about the size of a BHP and the FN is about the size of a Glock 19 except the FN has good ergonomics and won't explode in your hand if you look at it funny. :neener:

I agree on the CZ 75B; I have the .40 and I would recommend it highly to anyone interested in it.

But, FWIW, I think everybody should own at least one good revolver, so why not consider a nice 6" S&W 686 wheelgun (just MHO).

from boy hood to MAN HOOD

GET A GLOCK AND TURN INTO A MAN. YOUR GLOCK WILL STILL BE WORKING AS GOOD AS NEW WHEN YOU GIVE IT TO YOUR KID ONE OF THESE DAYS. :p

You know, you're right. These are giving new CZ's a run for their money and worth every penny, IMHO.

Given your age, I assume this will not be a "carry" weapon. Therefore, my recommendations are:
1. Browning Hi-Power (if comfortable with SA only)
2. 1911 in 9mm (If comfortable with SA only)
3. CZ 75 or CZ P-01 or CZ PCR.
4. XD - if you do decide on polymer.
5. Beretta 92 - if you have large hands & like the feel.
*Given your budget....I suggest going with CZ....great value!
