I'm looking to purchase a new bullseye gun. Mainly a 1911 in 45 ACP. I have a Clark custom right now but I don't have a backup 45 to it. So I am looking for some names of some bullseye gunsmiths that can produce a 1.5" gun for me.

Any help would be great.

just buy a les baer with the 1.5" @ 50 yards guarantee..

or a wilson combat, they're mostly all guaranteed 1" or 1.5" at 25 yards..

I contacted Jerry about 2 years ago, and, unfortunately, he told me he wasn't taking on work. I don't know if that meant he retired or was backlogged. He recommended Bob Jones in Mississippi as his choice for a PPC gun, but I don't know if he also works on bullseye guns.

A friend of mine met this guy at Camp Perry a couple days ago. Apparently he had a gun with him that was shooting .8" outside to outside 10 shot groups at 50 yards from a ransom rest. He said his guns average around 1.375". I have no experience with his guns, but it might be worth a look.

Clark Custom Guns is still making Bullseye guns. I saw that there were seven new (unsold guns finally finished) RRA guns listed on Bullseye-L back in February. I have heard good things about Joe Chambers guns, but I have no personal experience.

All of the previous mentioned 'smiths have a 'following' and a commitment to the shooter. Especially the Competitive shooters. They go to the front of the line and just might be next up on the bench.

As another name in the hat of prospective 'smiths, you might consider David Sams. David is a retired MTU guy who can make the Baretta 92 shoot like a good rifle.
