CZ-75 series guns are in that range, high quality, extremely accurate, and you'd have money left over for gear and ammo (if you intend to carry plan on investing at a minimum $100 on a good belt and holster, probably closer to $200). Same with the Beretta-92 series, since the safety/decocker is just fine if you use it only as a decocker and ignore it the rest of the time. For a bit more you're into SIG territory, which is a happy place indeed.
