Hey everyone,
I'm looking to add to my gun collection and really want to invest in something Nazi-Proofed, as it is an unforgetable part of history, (and the Germans make fine weapons!). I'm aware of the Luger, and they are really nice pieces however, recently their value has gone up beyond my budget. I know a alot about the P-38; it's factory codes, dates of manufacture, makers and etc, and I'm leaning towards it unless I find something else. If anyone knows anything that they think is important, please share!

Anyhow, if anyone knows of any type of Nazi-Proofed handguns that are below $1000, in good, functioning condition, please let me know!

There are plenty of P38s out there that have the nazi markings. The non import marked ones are the ones getting all the attention these days though. The ones with import markings can be had for quite good deals at around 5-600.

Sauer 38H. Nice little 32 ACP/7.65 with features to carry over to the Sig-Sauer.

I don't know if this helps at all but if you just want something Nazi Proofed but aren't too hung up on a handgun, there's always the K98 rifle.
That'll cost you a good deal less than the handguns and you still get the proofs.

Just checked Gunbroker and found a couple of Mauser HsC pistols in the $600 to $700 range; Walther PPKs for 3 to 4 times that; and a number of Walther P-38s in the $800 to $1000 range

Great suggestions. The Saur and Mauser are a little odd-looking to me, however if I could find one that's a steal price ($200-), I'd go go for it. The Walther PPK is very nice looking, however the price is a bit much for one, I could almost get a Luger for that amount. And yet again the P-38 appeals to me more than anything. I guess I would still like to find out if there is any other type of Nazi-proofed pistol other than these mentioned. But, thanks for all the suggestions!

19-3Ben, I am already a proud owner of a Kar98k. :D

Let's not forget the various Stars, Radoms, Hi-Powers, FN1922s, CZ27s and 38s, etc. All of these, and a number more, are Nazi-proofed and usually under $1000.

The P38 is a fantastic pistol by I'd get a Hi power.

If my memory serves me wern't a batch of 1911's captured and stamped? I may be wrong here but I want to say a handful in Norway or something like that.

I guess you mean the Norwegian ‘Kongsberg Model 1914’. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kongsberg_Colt

Here’s mine … it was made in 1941, so during German occupation but only the M1914’s made in 1945 have the nazi proof marks. Those are highly sought after by collectors and thus probably more expensive than a WWII Luger.

Just keep in mind that one P.38 leads to another, and then another. You'd have to get a Walther, for starters, with the ac code. They you'd have to add a Mauser-made P.38, with the byf code. That logically leads to the Spreewerk model, with the cyq code. And once you get to that point, you'll want to add a mismatch, and an HP, and an ... well, you get the idea.

There's one other thing to keep in mind: If you want a true Third Reich pistol, the P.38 was the Third Reich pistol.

It is actually worth quite a lot. I have the original holster and ammo a spare mag and the paperwork from the United States European Theater signed by the US soldier that removed the weapon from a Nazi officer and asked for permission to bring the weapon back to the United States.

I had a Belgium FN Hi-Power with nazi markings, as did the 2 magazines it came with.

The magazines each held 14 rounds, not 13 as every commercial one I've seen.

One mag was blued, but the other was actually a pea green color.

Came with a holster and was a WWII bring back purchased from a brother officer I worked with at one time who brought it home.

When I got on the job in the late 60's many WWII vets were retiring and I wound up with a Luger, and an M-1 Carbine, all bring backs. I turned down a Nambu because ammo was unobtainable at the time.

Sold all but the Carbine.

CZ27

This little WWII bring home, is loaded with nazi swastikas & eagles. Great little shooter, too! Got the original Holster, that ruined the finish from moisture, and from 50yrs of neglect in my Wife's Grandpas house.
