Hi everybody, I did a forum search and didn't really find anything helpful.

I would like to own a semi-auto Colt M4 or copy. I've no experience in shopping for these things and any stores, manufacturers, etc would be much appreciated.

I've been in the Army for 11 years so I'm well versed in the function of such weapons, and I'd like to stay with what I'm used to.

Thanks in advance.

Lt, spend some time at www.ar15.com and you will gain a bunch on info on what is out there. If you want a Colt, then you can get one, or you can get any of about 20+ other manufacturers that make civilian versions of the M4. 16" barrel though, since the 14.5" you are used to is a no-no unless you go NFA. Browse the various forum "search" features too. Good info is everywhere. Good hunting!

A lot of folks that I know are high on Bushmaster and Rock River for the AR type rifles. Do check out AR15.com

The closest equivalent of a Colt M4 semi-auto would be a Colt LE6920 (16" barrel) or LE6921 (14.5" barrel if you don't mind the NFA fees and paperwork).

I have a BM with a 14.5" barrel. They simply weld on the flash-hider. As long as the total length of the barrel and muzzle device is 16", you're OK.

When you said you were looking for a particular rifle I thought you were in my situation. I'm looking for a Winchester Model 88, serial number 158301A
