Witch one of of these pistols would prefer
I'm looking for a new pistol and its down to these 3
Of those I likely would get the sig, if you are okay with a DA/SA trigger.
However, I feel that is worth mentioning a gun that you likely have not even considered. I would give a serious look at a Caracal. They are available form cernterfiresystems.com for $399 with free shipping last I checked. That puts them in the same price range as the sig.
The caracal is a well made gun that is getting rave reviews. It is a very well thought out gun that is the latest in Bubbits evolution from glocks. Two big things for me that I prefer over any of the sigs I've used?
1. Bore axis. One thing I have never liked about sigs is their very high bore axis. On the other hand a Caracal has a particularly low bore axis. Since each gun is on the extreme ends of the spectrum the difference between the two is a huge. A low bore axis allows for more control of the gun leading to less muzzle rise and faster followups as well as less perceived recoil. The Steyr M9 (a gun designed by the same man as the caracal) is similar and what I let new shooters shoot for that reason, very soft easy shooting gun.
2. Consistent trigger. A DA/SA trigger like the sig has take much more work to master. I really like the sig SA trigger. The DA trigger, not so much. Of course one can learn to be proficient with it but it takes added effort as one must learn two trigger pulls and the trigger pull changes. I'm not saying a DA/SA gun is per se bad. I own DA/SA guns. However, I prefer a consistent trigger pull and think that for most folks it makes becoming proficient with their gun easier.
The caracal is much better than the cheap S&Ws. It is on par with the M&P line. The polymer sig is a sleeper in the sig line up IMHO. However, for my money (and uses) I'd rather have the Caracal if I was buying a gun in that price range and size range.
