Oddly enough, a downwardly-plunging firey handbask
Ok, I always see holsters designed for a specific type of draw. every one I have seen puts the inside of your wrist and palm facing your body. Is there a type of holster that allows you to draw with the back of your hand in contact with your body? I ask because I have simulated drawing from some positions, like 4-7 o'clocks and I found that a holster designed like this would be better for me.

Is this a pipedream, the realm of custom holster makers only, or sold in many places?

simple, get a left handed OWB holster and flip it around to become a right handed IWB holster.

The problem with that draw is that when you flip your wrist you end up covering yourself with the muzzle

Sounds like you want the old-style "cavalry twist draw" holster. Talk to El Paso Saddlery (see here). They have many designs dating right back to the 19th century, and even if it isn't currently cataloged, they can probably make one for you.

Assuming you are right handed, a left-hand IWB holster with no (or vertical) cant worn far behind the left hip, almost over the kidney. For a right handed draw, your fingers would go between the gun butt and your body. And it would still be accessible if you need to draw it left handed. (Never tried it myself, but saw it in a gun rag article.)

Here's El Paso Saddlery's reproduction of an 1880 cavalry twist-draw holster:

They have this to say about it:
Indian War style cavalry holster. Originals were issued butt forward on the right hip. This was due to the use of the saber as the primary weapon. Available for Colt Single Actions, Colt Clones, Vaqueros and Schofields.
I'm sure they could make one up for you to fit your gun. You could also specify that it be without flap, I guess.

how does the beavertail not poke you?
Beats me, that's from the Galco catalogue. :D

They don't list one in my fit chart as being available for a Witness or CZ yet.
They do have them for 1911, Beretta 92, 96, Browning BDA and similar sized guns.

As you can see it's not just a left handed holster worn on the "wrong" side.
It has a cant that's about 25-30º different and the thumbsnap is of the right handed variety.

Well now...hmmmm.

You want a holster built for a Witness that puts the butt of the gun towards your 12.00..interesting. One inherent problem with this situation, as sorta covered by an earlier post, is when you draw quickly you will cover you or others around you. Youll have to practice draw ALOT to get it down without covering yourself.

I can build this for you quite easily and have a Witness mold.

And the cant wont be reversed...just the gun........

Email me if I can help you out........

Shoot well
