Hello all -

I purchased a Stag Model 6H upper for range use at 200 + yards. It was a well-built upper and very accurate; however, with a 24-inch stainless bull barrel it was too heavy and not well balanced. So, my loss was my friend's gain, but I'm looking for another. Can anyone recommend a reasonably accurate AR-15 upper in 5.56, perhaps 18 to 20 inches long, that will not break the scale (or the bank)?

Thank you-

Well, the Stag could put rounds in the same hole at 200 yards with a halfway decent scope and a rest; it had a 1/8 twist also.

Granted, 200 yards is not much of a test, but it's hard to find longer ranges here in tiny (liberal) CT, but that's a different story...

I've been pleased with my Wilson Combat barrel. Not sure if they sell complete uppers, easy enough to roll your own though.

I have a rock river predator pursuit upper with a 20" barrel that is extremely accurate. It has a heavy barrel, but not a full bull barrel. It would be lighter than your original upper, but still pretty heavy.

Sota Arms

You might look at Sota Arms uppers. I don't know that they'll put "rounds in the same hole" at 200 yards but of course that depends on how big the hole is. I have a couple of their uppers and am quite pleased with them. Unlike others who advertise "complete" uppers, the Sota Arms uppers come with a bolt carrier group and charging handle which makes $299 look even better.
