I was planning on getting one next year, but given the political climate, I figure I should get one sooner than later. Any suggestions for an economical purchase? I looked at what they have at Classic Arms and a few other places on the net. I am hoping to spend less than $500. Thanks.

I recently purchased one of the "G" builds from Classic Arms. Great rifle, never failed to function and appears to be a little bit better quality (receiver, front sight, and trigger) than my WASR 10 I got from Century Arms.

I've been quite happy with my WASR-10 I got late last year.

It cost me $329, but I hear of guy's buying them for $299 once in a while.

Be sure and inspect the WASR-10 for sight and gas block cant. Also see if it's got the Tapco trigger system. A new WASR will likely have a Tapco trigger installed by Century, but maybe not. My WASR has a great trigger pull for an AK and it has a Tapco trigger system. East to check for that, the trigger will say Tapco on it visable on the side without taking the gun apart.

I have a AZ. Response system Ak on the way that is on its way it was $595 shipped. I can't wait till it gets here.

I just ordered the Tactical G Code AK from ClassicArms. I should be getting it in about a week. I'd say pick one up while you still can.

I'm looking at a WASR-10 right now, they have one in the local gun shop for $400 and I am seriously considering it.

300-400 is about ballpark for that particular piece of machinery. usually depends on the furniture setup that they have on it, which 9 times out of 10 is in poor quality but motivates you to get on the aftermarket websites and turn it into something that will cause some rubbernecking at the range. if i didnt replace the wood off of mine it would have more than likely splintered the bejesus out of my cheek

One thing about an AK, if it was built right from the factory, it will run like a champ. Anything else you may not like cosmetically can be changed to whatever suits your tastes.

You may want to spend a little more and get a Vector from atlantic arms.

Also, might be a good idea to look for a used gun somewhere, like a Mak 90.

I've bought a AES-10B from classicarms.com The 1st one had problems and had to go back, Classicarms paid for the return shipping UNLIKE ARSENAL!

The 2nd AES-10B is a very nice rifle. i'd take a chance on the Rommy G for a starter AK.
