Not for me, I'm happily married but for my revolver.

S&W Mod 60 Ser # AAZ1449

There is no dash in the model, don't know if that helps or not. Thanks!

That's a little weird, because a no-dash model 60 would have an "R" prefix before the serial number.

Based on the serial number you provide, the production date looks like between October and December 1982.

The Model 60 with no dash came out in 1965 and ran till 1972. The 3 alphabet serial numbers didn't start till 1982. The "AAZ" should put it around 1982 or 83.

Thanks, I think. Now you've got me confused. The serial number I gave is on the bottom of the grip strap, only visible when you take the grips off - this is the correct location for a serial number on a S&W, correct?

Now when I open the cylinder, it says plainly "Mod. 60" and on my model 15 this is the area where it says "mod 15-3". There seems to be two numbers stamped on the crane, one looks original and says "96557" while what seems to be an overstamp slightly underneath says "CD4".

Does this extra info make things less confusing. Thanks for all your help.
