Looking for good primer pocket cleaner

I still use the Lee pocket cleaner for my .223 cases. Over time the tip has rounded off somewhat, but this is a good thing in my case because the Nosler cases that I use have primer pockets that are slightly concave down at the bottom. I've read suggestions by others to cut primer pockets flat at the bottom for one reason or another but I'm not so sure about this: I suspect that a cupped pocket may in fact help to direct the flash from the primer.

In theory an ultrasonic cleaner will also clean primer pockets, but FWIW I've never been able to get them truly clean with an ultrasonic cleaner without prepping them first.

I decap brass before washing (not tumbling) in a weak acid/detergent solution that generally gets the primer pockets clean enough for me. Anything I'm not happy with, I clean with the Lee Primer Pocket cleaner.

For my rifle cases (where the quantity is relatively small), I just use a hand-powered Lee pocket cleaner. For pistol/revolver cases, I don't bother to clean them at all.

I use a RCBS Trim Mate--I use my fingers to hold brass for cleaning primer pocket.
To camfer in & out & remove crimp I cut a piece of sandpaper(300 grit) about 2" x 1/2"-wrap it around brass &
hold it with a standard pair of plires
This saves my fingers.
Great machine

Didn't for a long time. Then I started. Stopped. Restarted. I went to the hardware store. The plastic sheathed steel cable works good... just get the two sizes that do the lg and sm pocket sizes. I give it a twist or three and off we go.

I use those little RCBS primer pocket brushes chucked on a slow drill. hdbiker

With modern improvements in case cleaning, there is no need to clean primer pockets anymore...

If you go with a wet tumbling system for case cleaning and a Lee Universal De-capping Die, you can take your fired cases, decap them, and put them in your wet tumbler. The wet tumbler will clean the cases to near brand new condition, including the primer pockets. So, no need for any extra primer pocket cleaning steps.

Hope this helps...

I just use the pocket brushes in a case prep center. Before I did that I just chucked them up in a varispeed drill mounted on my bench.
