71Commander - I hate Glocks with a passion.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, no matter how irrational it may be.

I'd go with the G30. 10+1 .45ACP, conceals surprisingly well, and mine has had zero failures of any kind with close to 10,000 rounds through it. No problems with any ammo I have fed it, HP's, RN's, SWC's, handloads or factory. Plenty accutate enough at any reasonable self defense range. Not a "pretty" gun, but I value function over form in a defensive handgun.

+1 for glock 30. light, durable, reliable.

i'd trust my life to a glock any day over a taurus  yeah, you may not like how they look, but i see few people disputing the durability and reliability of a glock.

I absolutely LOVE my Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro 45.

10+1 and a spare magazine is PLENTY for me.

IMO it can't be beat for $349.

The Taurus 24/7 is a wee bit big for CCW in my opinion. The reason I went with the Taurus millenium pro pt145. 10+1 .45 acp. Compared to a friends 9mm version but when layed on top of each other they were the exact same length. The .45 is a tad thicker but not much. Aside from a defective magazine that came with the pistol I have had no problems.

EDIT: sorry logan i missed your post.

I still stand by my opinion of "hi-cap 45 ACP compact" is an oxymoron. 10 round mags are not considered hi-cap, I figure 12-13 is standard for 45 among normal sized 45s.

I'd certainly consider 10 rounds a hi-cap for a compact 45.

My Colt Officer's Model holds 6+1, so 10+1 in a lighter, similar sized package, is hi-cap IMO.

now read this...

i would take a long hard look at the Kimber/BUL .45 with polymer frame. i own the BUL--they are the same--and it does exactly what you want it to do. my 2 cents.--robby:D:D:D

If I'm going to have a full size .45, then I would expect 12+1 or more to be considered hi-cap. I would never buy the full size M&P45 if all I can get is 10+1 capacity.

BUT, for a compact, CCW .45, 10+1 is definitely "hi-cap" and the G30 is a supreme example of an extremely reliable, accurate, "hi-cap" compact. They carry easily and do what is needed very reliably.

My G21SF has good reliability, accuracy, and capacity. But it just feels terrible in my hand and I do not like the feel of the trigger. Too bad, because it's such a great gun otherwise.

The XD45 looks like a good full size option, if you can carry it comfortably. I think it would feel MUCH better in the hand than my G21SF.

The Daly M-5 Commander size could be a great option. Looking forward to more info, availability, and feedback on these.

The STI Tactical 4.15 would be superb. I would take it in .40 probably for the extra two rounds of capacity. It is 4x the price of a G23, however... which with a G22 mag gives 15+1. The G23 is not an "enjoyable" gun to shoot however, where the STI is a wonderful cream-puff to shoot in .40 or .45.

I consider a .45 compact with a 10 round capacity to be hi-cap. I looked at the G30 and the XD compact. I thought the triggers on both guns were less than desirable. My M&P 9c has a much better trigger than either of these two guns in my opinion. The long pull length is part of the safety system I know, but man they are really long.

I got all excited when I saw the pic of the compact Springer posted by 71 Commander on the first page. He said it's a 12+1 gun. If it exists in that configuration I couldn't find it on the Springfield website. Too bad because that would be perfect. I keep coming back to the Para but after all the bad reviews I have read about them I just can't bring myself to try one.

The Daly M-5 looks interesting. I haven't been able to find one for sale. What's the going price for one?
