Whats out there in the sub 1K price range? Here are the parameters:

Non negotiables:

Not made in China
Second Focal Plane
42mm minimum objective

Can give a little on some of these:

3.5 inches of eye relief minimum
12X or higher high magnification
20 Ounces max weight

It's going on a lighter weight hunting rifle to be used primarily in southern woods, often in poor light May see some use on a western hunt one day.

Won't ever dial windage. Probably won't ever dial elevation, but a dialing elevation turret would be okay with a zero stop. Not into tacticool. Don't need a crazy reticle. The simpler the better. elevation hash marks are okay. Prefer a finer center mark, be it a dot or crosshairs.

Right now the only one that I have found that checks all those boxes are a Leupold VX5HD 3-15x44.

A Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-12.5x42 and a Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 come close.

Easy. Meopta Meopro.

Meopta Optika 6 RD 3 x 18 - 50 would be an option. RD means it’s illuminated. 23 oz is the drawback. Cameralandny.com has some in stock. $649.99.

They offer the scope without illumination also and you’ll save some $.

I have a FFP version that I like a lot.

Where did you get that weight? It shows on CLNY's site as 849 grams which is 29+ ounces. That's the reason I ruled that one out.

You’re right. When I typed in the #s for the conversion, I must have mistyped a digit.
