Looking for map of counties' vote

What's the real cause-effect?

Correlating liberal voting with urban population density is one factor, but look a little closer. In Arizona, for example, I'd say the two blue areas are indian reservations (entitlement lifestyle, IMO, although not urban). Yet, Phoenix (Maricopa county) went for Bush. Other metro centers in the solid-red heartland did not go blue.

So its possible to have major dense urban populations who don't vote liberal. Can anyone put their finger on a characteristic that would separate, say Phoenix from Los Angeles? Can we cultivate these characteristics (in terms of public policy) to promote less-liberal (dependency) behavior in big cities?

CDC "study"

I suggested in the "two Americas" thread that its time for the CDC to form a blue ribbon panel and investigate the potential pathogens that cause high correlation among urban living and liberal voting.

That sounds like a much better piece of busy work for the CDC than blaming guns for crime.

I think the entitlement mentality is most to all of it.

The only way out of the entitlement fiasco will be huge deficits that lead to an inability to continue the scheme.

I (not so) secretly hope that the real reason Bush spends like crazy is that he's trying to raise the deficit to the point where new calls for entitlement programs cannot be fulfilled, and that as a result the Demos might actually be forced to move in the direction of limited govt!
