Okay gang I've always wanted a SXS, my reliable 870 will never leave me , but something about sxs have always attracted the innner twead wearing, gentleman hunter in me:D. What I don't have a need (or money) for is a "Fine" shotgun....I'm looking for a new good, basic, reliable, solid shotgun. My budget for said pheasant getter is no more than $800. This will be a hunting gun, up land bird, small game etc. I also don't mind hammer guns (actually I am also considering Pendersolis muzzleloader sxs) Can it be done???? Please help me!!

Check out the Yildiz shotgun line available at Academy Sports and Outdoors or the CZ-USA sxs Bobwhite (made by Huglu). Or you may find a suitable Stevens on the used market within your budget.
IMO, the Yildiz offers a very nice quality of wood, fit and finish for the $ in a hunting shotgun for occasional use.
Good luck!

You can also look for used (I know you said new) Savage/Fox BSE in 12, 20 and IIRC, 16. Should be better made and a little more reliable than the cheap imports

Just another possibility

Look for a Zabala Hermanos double trigger gun. In fact, in your price range, stick to double trigger guns. Zabala made guns for Sears, Stoeger, Abercrombie & Fitch and several importers from the late Fifties through the Eighties. They're no AyA or Uggy but they are pretty solid, reasonably graceful and pleasing to the eye as well as value fir money. A Churchill Windsor II 20 gauge from the Eighties with pistol/grip beavertail friend will be $350 in good condition, straight and splinter another $100 - $150

Here's a nice case colored receiver with grip cap 28" barrels12 gauge. Choked IM / M. You can have the M barrel opened to IC for under $50. Nothing to do with me but a great value gun: $399 "Buy It Now"

Several more on GB but this the value gun at the moment.

Actually, if you are going back that far, AyA made guns for Sears in the 50's and 60s as well and some can be found for $250-$250 - they will typically have single triggers and a beavertail forearm, but they are still a good shotgun
