I know this topic has been nearly beaten to death, but I'm looking for some advice on a duty/hd gun. Here are my thoughts;
Make: Mossberg - because I have owned Mossbergs for years and am very familiar with them, which is an absolute necessity.
Model: 500 Breacher - because it could very well be used for that
Stock: The PGO WILL come off, but what to replace it with? Probably straight wood stock cut to about 13" LOP. I hear synthetics are a nightmare to cut and pistol grip stocks do not look practical with the Mossberg safety.
Light: Definitely, just not sure which one yet. The gun has not come in yet but in the pictures it does not look like enough room on the magazine tube to mount much of anything.
Sling: Yes, because I will be spending hours on roadblocks, perimeter, etc. I'm thinking 2 point but open to suggestions.
At this point, that is all I am planning on doing to it, other than shooting lots.:)
I have already learned a lot and have modified my plans from reading posts on this site, very informative!
Thanks in advance

Choate synthetic stocks can be adjusted from 13" to 14" with included parts.

I don't think the tang safety is incompatible with a pistol grip, though any guns I have with a tang safety have conventional stocks, and it's really quick and easy to flick the safety on or off.

The Choate stocks look good, I had not seen those.
I like the thought of the pistol grip because it would have a similar feel to my M4, it just looks like extra movement to get the safety off. Of course there are ways around that, such as cruiser ready. I personally like the Mossberg safety, however I have missed more than a few clays with someones else's gun, for some reason the Rems & Benellis and such don't go bang no matter how much you push on the tang.:eek:
