Raging Bull

I have never owned a weapon made by Taurus until two weeks ago. I own mostly smiths, but when I saw a deal on a Raging Bull I couldn't quit thinking about it, so I went ahead and bought it. I am so glad I did. It is more fun to shoot than any of my 357's or 44's. Factory ammunition is off the hook, but I roll my own and I've got 50 rounds down to about $14 after the initial investment of brass from Midway. Once I get my .452 325 gr dies I'll knock that price down even more.

I own a few Taurus guns including a couple revolvers. I think one of the better offerings from Taurus is the 44 magnum Tracker. Mine sported a 4 inch barrel and is in stainless.
It is I believe the smallest production 44 magnum revolver on the market, and although I mostly shot 44 Specials thru the gun I liked the magnum capability in a package about the same size as a S&W L-frame.

I had to sell this one in a cash crunch - I miss it . Very nice gun !

My comment on the Taurus 94 is based on three years in the retail gun business. I don't believe I even mentioned the 85 and my comments were the result of a scan on our to-the-factory returns over the past eighteen months...The 94 size rimfires are inconsistent. Of the last three we sold, one has gone back for repair twice and one once..I guess that would be 66% on the short haul. For some reason, the bolt spring is much weaker in the 94s. Triggers are uniformly awful.
Total sold in the last eighteen months, model 94s, eight. Seven got trigger jobs which produce an almost satisfactory single action pull, four went back for timing/bolt issues. If that is unadulterated hogwash, come and buy some.
As I've said before, the tracker series, medium frames and large frames are largely without problems.

You said that the trigger on the 85s were junk, or "small frames" I believe you said, inferring that the .380 (which isn't in production to my knowledge) would have a crappy trigger because the 94s do. At least, that's how I took it. We weren't even talking about the 94s. The 85 is a small frame gun and mine is marvelous. Most I have handled had fantastic DA triggers. No, the .22s don't have good triggers, but they're rimfires and other than an old M17 I borrowed a lot from my uncle when I was a kid, the DA .22s I've tried had stiff DAs. As I recall, that 17 was pretty stiff, but smooth. But, then, they're not self defense handguns, so I give 'em a break on that. Don't own a 94, though. My kit gun is a Rossi 511 and I like it a lot despite the crappy DA trigger. SA is wonderful on that thing. I use it only as an outdoor take along and plinker, typical duty of any kit gun.

im considering their Model 740, its called a 'slim' and has a 6 shot mag in 40 cal for pocket carry, it feels good in the hand and is nicely balanced

well, I still think OP ought go for a Taurus 44 special

and McGunner ought buy up a dozen Taurus 94/941s, preferably from PapaG, just so PapaG can tell him where to go put 'em when he complains about 'em
now THAT really would be "simply marvelous" :banghead:

PS
just in case nobody noticed, the Taurus 380 acp revolver is still vaporware
but maybe they are just still pondering what cutesy name to call it
Raging Judge ??
Circuit Bull ??
Outrageous Bull ??
