I'll finally be getting my CWL within a few months. I've been putting it off for awhile but my new job has me going to foreclosed houses around Miami/Ft Lauderdale all day so I'm finally motivated to carry some real protection. It will take me some time to save up to get the carry permit but I will get the gun right away because I can at least carry it in my car and bring it onto properties if need be.

Normally I would have no problem figuring out a gun and carry method to go with my normal dress. However, since my main concern is protection while I'm working, I need to meet very specific needs so I'm kind of stumped as to what gun to buy and carry method to utilize.

I'm 5'6" and 140 pounds with about a 32" waist. My dress is business casual which means either a dress shirt and pants or khakis with a polo, tucked in of course. I spend a good 6+ hours a day sitting in my car, which is a little sports car no less, so comfort is a top priority. The seats hug my body pretty well and the car is manual so I'm moving my left leg a lot. I've already ruled out a Smart Carry because I drink a lot of water so I want to be able to go to the bathroom easily. I'm thinking either pocket carry or a tuckable IWB are my only real options.

As far as the gun goes, I would really, really prefer a 9mm SAO subcompact, which I know really limits my choices. I've been pretty heavily leaning towards a G26. Are there any other guns that would fit that description? I like the 1911s from Springfield and Colt but they're really expensive. I would like to keep it under $600 new.

An alternative I had in mind would be to pocket carry a .380 like a Bersa Thunder while keeping a 9mm or .45 in my car.

There are several holsters designed around wearing a tucked in dress shirt. I can't name them off the top of my head but I hear they work well. Some are a little on the pricey side. There's a thread on this forum in the holster section I think.

If you're considering a G26, you could also check out an M&Pc 9. It's a similar size.

You may also want to look into the Ruger SR9c. Compact with 10 round mag and is normally under 400. That is what I decided to get for personal carry and I too have not got my ccl yet do to saving up and have picked the (SOB) small of back holster in the pants due to I do not have a thin waisteline and the gun tends to hang up on the overflow. :) I have freinds with the .380 that carry in the pocket but the onlything I do not care for is trying to find ammo and once you do find it the price is high. I can find 9mm luger FMJ 115gr for $12.98 (box of 50) all over the place. Of course this would be what people classify as (target loads) but if needed they will work in a pinch. Kurt.
