Hello every one. This is my very first post in the forum. I have searched numerous threads and found just as many opinions. So don't be to hard on me about the search button (i know where it is).

Anyway I have a question about cc guns. I have looked at Kel-tecs and kahr so far. I would like to have something in a 9mm. I also don't want to spend an arm and leg on a handgun (already do that on gas). I do have some shooting exp (nothing to brag about). I'm not to worried about dressing around the gun, but don't want this cannon straped to my side looking like I'm growing a hump. So what would you recommend or what characteristics should l look for. I do know it has alot to do with personal pref. I just know ya'll have much more experience than I.

Also as a secondard question what can you tell me about the kel-tec pf-9 I think that the one. I unfotunatly can't look up an guns at work.

Thanks for any input.

I'll go in reverse and say that the PF-9 is expected to ship any day now and us Kel-Tec addicts are anxiously awaiting them ...err I mean those Kel-Tec addicts are anxious for them...I mean thats what I hear. Seriously it's supposed to combine the best of the p-11 and p3at into one pistol so it looks very promising.

In a subcompact 9mm the Kahrs, Taurus PT-111 Millenium Pro, Glock 26, and SiG P239 are quite popular. I'm sure others will respond with more ideas.

I owned a Kel-Tec P-11 for some time. Aside from the long, heavy trigger pull it was a joy to carry with the belt clip. It disappears under a shirt or in a pocket and is very lightweight. Coupled with the 12rd flush fit magazines, it's hard to beat.

Yeah, I haven't heard from anyone who has a PF-9 yet. I have owned the P-11, and all I can say is make sure you are comfortable with the trigger before you buy it. The P-11 is an excellent pistol; compact, reliable, and reloadable with larger capacity S&W magazines. However, the trigger is too long and heavy for extended shooting sessions. A trip to an outdoor range on a cold day in February a couple of years ago resulted in a serious degradation of trigger control and resultant accuracy after only a couple of magazines.

The Taurus PT-111 is a much better choice, IMO. I own a PT-145 and I am extremely happy with it. It enjoys the benefit of a much nicer trigger system and recent pricing in my area has it only around $50 more than the Kel-Tec anyway. Plus, you can buy larger capacity magazines for the 24/7 for use in your Millenium (so I'm told). I have no problem with the .45 ACP model and I imagine the 9x19mm version is softer on recoil.

real well made firearms

I would not buy a new Kahr or Keltec pistol.

Kahr is owned by the corp that is run by the Rev Sun Yong Moon. :uhoh: I'm not thrilled about my $$$ going to a group like that.

Keltec is not bad but there are more well made affordable semi auto pistols out there.

For your use I'd say look into the S&W Sigma line(DA only) or get a Ruger KP-95DAO or KP-94DAO 9mm.

A DA only pistol can be shot well(good enough for protection use) and will be a safe way to learn how to shoot a pistol.

A Ruger pistol is hammer fired and you can keep your thumb on it when you re-holster in a real critical incident. Many PDs issue DA only pistols for good reason. These weapons offer a reduced chance of an AD(discharge) or accidents on the range.

Better firearms can be had(HK P-2000, SIG DAK-R, Walther P-990, etc) but they cost more.
