I say the Walther PPK/S but then again I have never used the others on the list.

I have tried 1911 full, officer and commander,Browning Hi-Power,Makarovs,and Glock, did not feel right or printed.
What had worked for me and my size(5,7 and 275 lbs)was is in the waist strong side near the back pocket(Right were John Wayne carried his Colt)Has been The Kahr,Walther PP and PPK and PPKS and the Smith and Wesson 3913 out of all those the best one I was able to shoot fast and deadly with has been the Walther and out of the Walther I keep going back to The PPKS in 380.
It has been both Comferting and Comfertblei :) Did I speel that right?.
Oh dear my Hillbilly roots is showing again..

Given the choices listed, I would go with the SIG 245 unless DEEP concealment was an issue, then the PPK would be my choice out of the four listed.

I said the 642. Now I thought the 642 was 38 spl only. I am just now really getting in to the revolvers, so I very well could be wrong on the caliber. I bought a S&W model 60 and now carry if over everything else most days. My main reason for this is size and weight. It seems to be a trend for some to start big and move small for their carry gun.

Alan, I agree with you. And to the rest of you all, if you hadn't noticed by which gun I listed in the top spot, I'm a bit biased to the 245.

It is basically a smaller 220 if I am not mistaken? I love my 220's handsome looks, ergonomics, stopping power, and over the top accuracy.

Now not to say all those other guns are viable candidates too. I'm trying to figure out the general concensus here.

I like the PPK as a second. Some say its accuracy is horrid.

Question, what do you guys think of perhaps a .32 cal PPK?

I wouldn't vote for any of them.

Instead of a Walther, look at a Bersa Thunder 380. Better sights, better trigger, lower price and you get to keep the web of your hand.

If I had to use one of the choices, I'd go with the SIG.

I am a 1911 guy, so you can guess what my first choice is................

ZM

My daily carry is a S&W 640-1, that's a hammerless 357 with a 2 1/8 inch barrel. I have tried some semi-auto pistols, but honestly, nothing seems as small as the S&W, especially when you consider the energy of the 357.

Because of the Glock's "safe action system" and the caliber. Although I prefer the big fat 21 to the 30 or 36.

Conceal carry automatic?

You don't seem to be locked into a particular caliber so after years and years of owning different firearms and having a wonderful prospective which is probably completely biased and even incorrect I say of the four on your list I would choose the: SIG P239!

Oops, sorry, just realized you neglected to put the best IMORFO concealed auto available. Very accurate, as most Sig's are. One hundred percent reliable, as most Sig's are. Small, concealable, high quality.. Oh sorry, you didn't consider the Sig P239 did you?

Well, in that case I have no opinion.

BUT, if at a later date you decide to add a Sig P239 to the list I would vote for that one.

JMO. :)

I voted for the revolver. I have a 642 as a daily carry, it is .38 though. There is no 642pd to my knowledge. You may be thinking of the 340pd which is .357 and a handful as far as recoil is concerned. Either way it would be easier to carry in my opinion than your other choices.

I voted for the S&W .38 spl. revolver, because if you ever want to carry in your front pants pocket then this will work the best of your choices.

I'd pick the Glock 36

Of the four you mentioned, I'd go with the Glock 36. My reasoning is:

- The .380 round is minimal for defense, so I eliminate the Walther PPK.

- .357 magnum from a 12 ounce snubby is uncomfortable and hard to control, so I eliminate the revolver.

- The Sig P245 is a nice gun, but much larger and harder to conceal than the Glock 36.

So I'd go with the G36, which gives you 6+1 rounds of .45 in a very concealable package, without the DA/SA transition of the Sig.

Why not the S&W 642 revolver in .38spl? Shooting Speer Gold Dot 135 grain +P's makes this a VERRRRY attractive CCW alternative.

U.F.O.

I voted for the Walther since I have a lot of experience with it, and cannot yet afford the SIG 245.
If I could afford one, the SIG mmmmiiiiigggghhhttt get the nod, but it'd be close.

Greeting's All-

I had to vote for the SIGARMS P245 as well. My main reason, is the fact
that my soon to be 10 year old West German .45 caliber SIG P220 has
been a trouble-free top performer for me; from my days as a LEO, to
civilian range use it ranks #1.

However, the others on the list aren't half-bad either! :D

concealed carry

The Glock 36 is the best choice of these four. Why? I like 45 acp. There is no need to compromise as the old saying goes. I suppose you plan to conceal this in a holster, right? If so, I like the single action trigger of the glock as well. The G36 is just as "concealable" as any of those listed. The PPK and the S&W and probably the 245 are all much heavier than the 36. Personally, I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP in 45 for concealed carry, but I am a 1911 freak.

My three choices are: the S&W 642, (used to carry a model 36) loaded with speer 135 +p, I just switched from the 110 gr federal pd.

The Glock 26 loaded with 125gr hydrashok, or winchester ranger 147 gr. On rare occaisions when the only other option is to carry nothing I carry a keltec p-32 loaded with corbon 60gr.

Those are my choices they work for me and are all very reliable. All three choices are pocket carried due to a need for deep concealment. This requires a careful test drive of every pair of pants I buy for pocket size and shape, and drawability.

Sucessful comfortable, conforting concealment methods are as important as the choice of gun.

When I am able I carry a 1911.

All of your choices are good ones, the key is that they work for you, and that you practice drawing and shooting at the range regularly.

On one hand the apples make better pies, but on the other hand I find the juice from oranges is more refreshing. :p

Of those choices I'd choose something else ... but twist my arm and I'd go for the G36 because its the easiest to conceal other then the PPK ... but in a significantly more powerful cartridge.

i voted 642.i carry it when temps rise and clothes to conceal my 1911 lessen. first it is stainless and alloy so it is nice for daily carry here in az where it can reach 110 degrees. and you can carry it in your front pocket or wherever comfortably. accuracy with it is an issue out to 25yrds but thats not what its for. but because of that i do find myself carrying my 1911 more.

I voted P245. Never paid it much attention until I picked one up. The grip is small, but I can get all three fingers on it. The grip is usually the hardest part to conceal on a CCW. This one tucks into the waistband (holster or not) and dissapears.

I think the Glock is good too, but you have to use a holster if you're keeping one in the pipe. I can tuck the P245 Mexican carry and go check the mail or walk over to the store. A Glock would require strapping on a holster, or keeping the chamber empty. (IMHO of course.)

For me mag changes on autos are always quicker than speed loaders.

I carry a Sig P245 most every day.

*Tough: 14,000 rounds, 1 replaced recoil spring ($8)
*Reliable: Zero failures since break in.
*Accurate: It's a Sig. 'nuff said
*Flexible: Designed to work with 7 or 8 round 220 mags, grip extension available
*It's got a hammer. Placing thumb over hammer when holstering can and will prevent you from glocking your own buttocks.
*Awesome ergonomics, as long as you don't have large hands. (In which case, you'll have a bigger problem with the G36)
*Well crafted, great workmanship

I've also got the 642 with the lasergrips, which I occassionally use as a backup/toss in the pocket when running out the door gun. I consider .38spc+P to be pretty much the minimum I'll carry in a defensive gun.
