I would like to replace my bodyguard with another pocket pistol. I guess I want something more stylish. I can't find what I want. Here are some thoughts.
1.) Ruger sp101= too heavy
2.) S&W j frame=most have too small of a grip only hold 5 rounds.
3.) Charter arms revolvers = you don't swap a smith for a charter.
4.) Taurus revolvers = see #3.
5.) Sig p238= don't like the cocked hammer for Pocket carry.
6.)walther ppk= super heavy for size, trigger every bit as bad as my bodyguard.

I guess the truth is that the S&W bodyguard is a great pocket pistol. I would really think hard about a good price on the ppk though. I just have that new gun itch. Hopefully when the ffl calls this next week and they have my M&P pro series .40 5" barrel in it will slow the case of the wants.

Have you looked at the LC9S Pro? It's small enough to pocket carry, and from everything I've heard it's a great gun. I ordered one a couple of days ago.

For pocket carry I have a KelTec P3AT as well as a SIG P238. Moving up to a 9mm. I go with my Kahr CM9.

step up to H&K

Then step up to an H&K P2000sk 9mm with LEM light trigger. The light trigger is adjustable down to 5.5 pounds, not bad for a DA. There is also a DA/SA version. they call them v1 - LEM light DA, v2 - standard heavy DA, and v3 - SA/DA. Sounds like you would like the V1, LEM light. Or possibly v3 DA/SA so you can carry decocked. The SA/DA has a decocker.
They also have a replaceable back-strap with different size pieces so that you can chose the one that fits your hand.
No external safety hanging off the side.

warning, once you go H&K, you may never want anything else. : )
From HK web site.
"The P2000 SK is available with Law Enforcement Modification (also known as Combat Defense Action) trigger system introduced in 2001 on the USP Compact “LEM” (Law Enforcement Modification) model. This unique pre-cocked hammer system combines the advantages of a cocked striker component (constant level of trigger pull and short trigger travel from first to last round fired) with a double action hammer system. The LEM/CDA trigger pull has been reduced to 7.3 – 8.5 pounds of pressure (32.5 – 37.8 Newtons), compared to 12 – 15 pounds (53.4 – 66.7 N) found on many conventional double action pistols. Optional adjustment by an HK certified armorer can bring the trigger pull into the 5.5 pound (24.5 N) range."

CW380 and PM9 are my pocket guns. They just work great for me. I had an LCP, too uncomfortable to shoot. The Kahr is much softer. I'd like to try a bodyguard to compare to the Kahr.

I'd suggest a Bersa Thunder 380, but they're on the large side although I believe they are lighter than a PPK/S.

I have a Sig 232 and really like it a lot, but it is not a pocket gun. I looked closely at the Kahrs for a pocket gun, but was shown the Bodyguard as an alternate and chose it. The BG has fewer sharp edges and a larger grip. I hated the trigger as delivered, but after 1000 or so snap cap cycles, it has smoothed out very nicely. After about 200 rounds of mixed ammo, I've only had 1 round that didn't fire on the first strike, with no other problems. Give it some more trigger cycles and some time before letting it go.

The new Glock 43 might be the answer in 9mm (when ever it comes out) and if you practice often... the Glock 42, yes a .380, might do.

Skill and awareness is more important then the specific weapon used.

While I'm not a huge fan of the .380 I do use the P32 .32 (ain't that a gas) as a backup.

If you get very good with a .380, say the Bersa or SIG 232, or Glock 42, that means more than being a mediocre shot with a 9mm. And again, keep your eyes open and aware of what is going on.

Almost no other gun says style like the Seecamp. I purchased a Seecamp 32acp from GB that I was so impressed with that I ordered another from the factory.
