So apparently OC and campus carry has been removed from the upcoming legislation here in FL.
Sad day.

Discussion of the bill evoked an emotional scene during its original stop in this committee Feb. 22, when the father of Ashley Cowie, an FSU student fatally shot during a fraternity party in January, spoke against allowing students to have guns on campus.

The above quote irks me throughly. I'm sorry that he had to outlive his child but he's playing all emotion and placing all blame on an object instead of the people responsible and the decisions which led to those tragic consequences. :fire:

ERAU isn't much better.
Maybe by a small margin becasue we have a lot of pilots with the 8hrs bottle to throttle deal.

Nowhere in the article did it say that the open carry provision was removed from the bill...

That said, I'm amazed that not a single person didn't respond to Ashley Cowie's father with a simple line like "Negligent behavior on the part of a drunkard does not constitute reason for limiting everyone else's liberty." Such a concise, logical rebuttal would have gone far.

It looks as though I misread it regarding the OC. It was getting late and I was lacking a bit in sleep.

Here's the provisions which have replaced SOP for OC:
Likewise, the open carry element was saddled with an amendment that demanded impractical and unnecessary requirements that no other open carry state in the union, including California, requires. The requirements are for firearm retention training, a level-2 retention holster, and public display of one’s license in proximity to a firearm being openly carried.

You've got that wrong.

It's no smoking 8 hours before a flight

No drinking within 50 feet of an aircraft.

;)

Facts have never mattered to the fearful antis, they think guns are a demonic talisman instead of a user-operated machine of metal and steel (and sometimes wood or plastic).

Campus carry may have to wait...
