Homeland Security: You’re All ‘Militia Extremists’ Now
Love the Constitution? Hate government regulations? New DHS "lexicon" brands you a "militia extremist."

A recently published “lexicon” distributed to thousands of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) targets citizens concerned about their Second Amendment rights and the steady encroachment of the federal government, categorizing such as “militia extremists.”

I'm not a militia extremist. I was gonna join the military. Wait a minute does that mean that everyone in the military is also a militia extremist? How many shooters are serving under these idiots right now? And it never fails they want our service and then they turn their backs on us. This thread will probably be locked BTW. I was going to join the navy but discovered I have mitral valve prolapse. I'm a shooter and they wanted me to be a nuclear engineer. And actually guns helped teach me a lot about physics and chemistry. My teachers related much of my coursework throughout high school to guns as they new I could regurgitate ballistics tables and such. When you figure out someones hobby there are to things you can do: help them learn from and enjoy their hobby, or stab them in the back and take it away only to lead to apathy, which many Americans suffer in the first place anyway. They keep trying to do the latter. It's just plain sad.

"(U//FOUO) Groups or individuals who facilitate or engage in acts of violence directed at federal, state, or local government officials or infrastructure in response to their belief that the government deliberately is stripping Americans of their freedoms and is attempting to establish a totalitarian regime. These individuals consequently oppose many federal and state authorities’ laws and regulations, (particularly those related to firearms ownership), and often belong to armed paramilitary groups. They often conduct paramilitary training designed to violently resist perceived government oppression or to violently overthrow the US Government. (Page 2 of 3, emphasis added)"

You neglected to mention the "engage in acts of violence" part. Soundbites are for politicians.

"They often conduct paramilitary training designed to violently resist perceived government oppression or to violently overthrow the US Government."

Do multi gun competitions qualify as "paramilitary training designed to violently resist."

Does any shooting sport? Nice thing about "notices" like this is they can be interpreted any number of ways.

You're quoting selectively. In addition to having concerns about the 2nd Amendment and government encroachment, "militia extremists" are described as "engaging in acts of violence directed at federal, state, or local government officials."

I don't think that applies to anyone here.

You didn't read the whole thing. It says those groups that commit violence. Sorry, I agree with this. If you commit violence against government officials, you are an extremest. Heck, you are a domestic terrorist.

If you commit violence against govt. officials you're a criminal. Whether or not you're an "extremist" depends upon context.
There's no point in "painting with too broad a brush," or for that matter, too thin a brush.
We ought to be able to see things for what they are without loading it into a PC government-rubber-stamped-and-approved-report.

If i said muslim terrorists are "people who are deeply religious and use violence to influence political change" would that mean all people who are deeply religious are muslim terrorists? Come on, this is common sense.
