Just wanted to get everyones view on the Lothar Walther barrels. The quality of the craftsmanship, finish, support behind their product, etc. Any info would be helpful.
thanks
I have a Lothar Walther barrel on my 6.5 Grendel AR-15. Very accurate. Here is the link to Alexander Arms, they manufacture the 6.5 Grendel and the .50 Beuwolf using the Lothar Walthar barrels.... http://www.alexanderarms.com/
I have a 36" SS Lothar Walther bull barrel on my State Arms .50bmg rifle. I like it. It did copper foul at first, as all .50's do. Now it is good, It likes to shoot good when it's dirty(after first 3-5 rounds). The less I clean it the better it shoots. I like it a lot.
I think Dave at spider firearms uses Loathar Walther barrels too, and they took a bunch of FCSA matches this year.
I have a LW barrel on my 14tw 6BR, and could not be happier with it. Shoots real well, and cleans with ease. I also own, and have owned customs with nearly every major barrel makers products. I'd buy another LW without question.
I was thinking about using either the L&W or a shilen for a mauser project. But since this will be my first home smithing attempt I am also conisidering to use the adams and bennet since it is about half of the price of the shilen or Lothar, and i would feel much better using somthing cheaper for my first build. So i guess any advice on the 3 brands would be helpful.
This is in the very early stage of planing. I am still trying to read up as much on smithing as i can, as i am not one to jump headfirst into somthing that i know little about.
I`ve 2 centerfires, a 270 and a 7-08 with LW barrels and my Clark Custom 10/22 also has a Walther barrel. I`d go with another in a minute. They are very accurate, and clean up easy.
