Ok, so I love my Ruger 10/22. It is so affordable and fun to shoot. I am able to hit quarter sized bullseyes at 100 yards believe it or not.

Anyways, what would be the next logical step up in power for my next rifle? This rifle would just be for shooting paper or coke cans. I just want alittle more power than a 22LR. It MUST be an affordable round to shoot....

Thanks

My recommendation would be something in .223 (5.56). The handi-rifle from NEF is pretty good or you could step up to a varmint model Remington 700 or Savage in a bolt action and shoot pretty little groups at 100 yards. If your budget allows you could get an AR-15.

.223 is a great, cheap, plinking round. The Handi Rifle and other single shot rifles will be very accurate, and be targets and hunting. If you want another auto-loader like your 10/22 you could look at the Kel-Tec rifles or a Ruger min-14. They aren't super accurate, but they are more than enough for pop cans and paper targets. Plus you should be able to find them new for under $500. Over $500 and you start to get into the range of AR15s.

Something in .223 would be a logical step up. If you want to stay with a semi-auto platform you could get a Mini-14 or, if the budget allows, an AR-15, although you probably won't be shooting quarters at 100yd with either out of the box (esp. the Mini).
7.62x39 would be another alternative, and you can pick up affordable AK style rifles.

I already have an AR-15 and an AK-47 and rarely shoot either. I want something really affordable to plink with. The most important thing for me is cheap ammo. I don't mind spending some bucks on a gun, but I hate feeding guns expensive ammo.....

CZ 452... at 50 meters if you cant get under 1 MOA keep trying. That is with iron sights stock...

About the cheapest centerfire I can think of to shoot would be 7.62X54R. If you want it in an autoloader, they're $750.00 or so, or go with a $100.00 Mosin-Nagant. My favorite fun gun is a 9mm Hi-Point carbine in an ATI stock with a reflex sight. WWB is about $14.00/100 at Wally World...

If you want to stick to RimFire.....

Get a Henry lever action .22mag not as cheap as long rifle but still ok. I have a Henry .22lr i like to take the range often its a blast to shoot.:D

I'll second the hi-point.

Don't be swayed by the price. It is a solid, reliable and accurate gun. It also comes with aperature sights from the factory, which is very nice.

Ammo is cheap and very available, you can but winchester or blazer at you local store, or get brown bear at gunshows for even less money.

I'll start by saying that my next one will be a 10/22, then a Hi point 9mm. That's assuming I don;t find a smoking deal on a Hi point first. I just got a .223 AR based on everyone's recommendations for "cheap ammo". Good luck finding it for less than a quater per round. :barf: I guess they meant relatively cheap when compared with .308, 7mm, etc.
The Hi-Point 9mm would be super cheap to buy and feed as long as you don't want to go out past 150 yeards I think it is. And nothing beats being able to feed your handgun and rifle the same round (assuming everyone has a 9mm handgun). :neener:
And I need to move to wherever Clipper lives Wally world here is sporting 10 dollar 50 round boxes of 9mm. :cuss:
