...I have two main issues with the M&P platform.

1. I'm a .45acp guy, but I won't buy an M&P 45 due to it's comparatively low capacity of 10 rounds. While I may never need 10 rounds or more, why settle when other polymer guns offer higher capacity? My XD45 holds 13 and my FNP 45 USG holds 15. Why didn't S&W make a higher capacity mag? Other than that, the M&P45 would be my first choice in a polymer .45. Any chance they up the capacity?

2. Make a 10mm! I'm waiting for one, as I don't want a Glock. I realize the 10mm is not a mainstream cartridge and it's development wouldn't be profitable, but I'm still hoping.

My M&P 9c fits like a glove. It is an amazing gun from a great line of pistols.

I don't especially like mags that prortrude below the grip, but for 4 extra rounds, these don't look too awful. The M&P has far better ergonomics than a 21 or XD/XDM, and can be had without the ridiculous safeties of the Springfield.

I agree that they need to do the M&P in 10mm.

I don't disagree with any particular point aside from the capacity issue. ;)

Of course, that's probably because I've spent so many years using and carrying 1911-style .45's with 6, 7 & 8-rd magazines. That makes the 10-rd magazine seem pretty decent.

Yes, I've used and T&E'd some of the higher capacity plastic .45's over the years. For various attributes and characteristics other than magazine capacity I've not owned any of them. I'd not have a problem if I'd had to carry some of them as issued weapons, but they didn't interest me enough to have spent my own money on them. Everyone has to suit themselves, right?

You can get that extended magazine for the M&P 45 which holds 14-rds, but you might need a great golf club grip technique to effectively use it, I'd think. :neener:

As far as the M&P being produced in 10mm? That probably depends on a couple of things, such as if the major ammunition companies ever show the 10mm factory ammunition having an increased market demand (meaning not counting the handloading market or the small specialty ammunition companies) ... and whether they can ever catch up with the growing demand for the models they're making right now.

I'd almost expect to see a new 10mm released some time in their SW1911 model line before a 10mm in the M&P pistol line. Maybe after the SW1911 is released in .40 S&W. Dunno. Rumors and rumbles are just that ...

Two things I've noted about the M&P45:

1. Their 14 round extended mags only hold 13 rounds... some will argue this point.

2. They compromised higher capacity for a slimmer grip (1.5 stack instead of double-stack).

The above stated, I bought the M&P45.

I didn't realize there was any argument on the S&W 14 round mags. Mine holds 14 tight but they fit.

I have the M&P 45 compact

Its a great pistol for CCW

I did the "round count" thought process as well

After reading about the subject for awhile it appears that the
overwhelming VAST majority of self defense shootings are done with 1-3 rounds.

I see folks trying to pack up 17 rounds in their SD pistol.

Knowing that most cases 3 rounds would be all I need..... I changed to
an attitude of what is the biggest hole I can put in a guy, because I may
ONLY GET ONE SHOT

8+1 of 45 ACP in my humble opinion, unless you are looking for a fight,
would seem to fit the bill. Having a backup mag in your pocket would
take you up higher

Of course with the upcoming X-grips, you can move up to the 14 rounders
as well
