Loves me some Trailboss

Finally got out today to shoot some of my reloads, I had .45acp, .45 colt, .223, 30-06, .44mag and 45-70 all using trailboss. (other powders used as well but had the most fun with the trailboss) No it is not the most accurate but minute of pop can was just fine for pure joy of shooting. It performed great in all loadings and calibers. Soft shooting, quiet and good enough for plinking. One of the easiest powders to load, almost impossible to screw up and get an overcharge. Will definately be stocking more of it, probably my favorite powder right now.

I really like it in 30-30 with a light lead bullet at 1,100 fps.

I'm loading 32H&R, 327mag, 38 spec, 30-30, 30-06, 7.5x55 Swiss and 45-70 with Trail boss. Because of its bulk it's very tolerant to variation. You really can't screw up with it.

With my old 7.5 Swiss I can get a 4" group at 100yds with SNSCasting.com 160grn cast bullets and open sights.

I really like using the light loads and cast bullets so the younger ones can shoot the big rifles and not be scared off by recoil. Also it's cheaper and I can use them on the pistol range dongers. The 32H&R and 327mag are really growing on me.

I've loaded for the .38 Special, .45 Colt, 30-30 and 45-70 with Trail Boss and all shot well. I agree with the OP, "It is not the most accurate but minute of pop can was just fine for pure joy of shooting."

Is there anything it can't be used for. .38, 30-30 = great fun. 9 grains and a 165 missouri cast in the ol' 30-30 is tons of fun

My personal best was .38 special, Speer 158 LSWCHP, 4.2 grains Trail Boss.

6 shots (full cylinder) out of my 4" GP100 and I shot a 3" group at 50 yards. (150 feet) Standard iron sights, from a bench, but still!

There is accuracy to be had with Trail Boss!

I've found that this load is a favorite of my 336. Less than an inch at 50 yards.

I love Trailboss in the 577/450 MH. 15.5 grains with a 400 grain bullet. Right at 1000 fps.
