Does anyone know what is the best powder/load for .357 (158 gr.) for shooting after dark. I was shooting some 231 this afternoon and noticed that the flash would be blinding at night. Thinking pigs, racoons. armadillos, etc... I'm shooting a 4" barrel Smith. Thanks.

I've loaded some with Silhouette, a low flash powder. Note Ramshot doesn't provide data for 357, so I just used low end True Blue data. The powders are very similar.

Note: the Highroad.org does not endorse load data. This worked for me. Load carefully.

AutoComp has the lowest flash of the powders I have, and is one of the most accurate. I just wish I had bought more when I found it.

With powder hard to find these days I've used longshot for 9mm and 357.
Meters well and shooting very late, almost completely dark, the muzzle flash was
Minimal with 357 and almost nonexistent with 9mm. Hodgdon load center list
8 loads for this powder. Will tell you that it's nickname is spot on.. Loud shot :D
Great powder for experimentation, its not moody or temperamental.
As always start low and work up, be safe !

Thanks all. I have Unique and will look for Autocomp or Silhoutte next time I go to town.
