"Low profile" upper handguard for Yugo AK?

I'd like to get a low profile upper handguard for a Yugo AK, with a standard optics rail to mount a red dot sight. Does anyone know where the best place to get a set [as it would undoubtably come with the lower handguard as well]?

I appreciate any suggestions, . . .links, . . .pics, . . .whatever you've have to offer.

Personally, I'd get an Ultimak mount rather than a set of railed hanguards. The Ultimak clamps to the barrel, and will be more stable than a normal handguard mount.

Those railed upper handguards really aren't stable, don't hold zero and don't have a repeatable zero. Ultimak is your best option.

the ulti mak is very stable, and that is the route that i would go if i was to put a red dot on my mak-90. i have seen many a ulti mak equiped ak's be ran and with success in training courses over the years.

there is a new one out form MI i haven't tried one or seen it in action, however, they make great ar products and i am sure that the ak rail would be no different.

There is also the Larue IronDot. Mounts to the AK sights so it stays rigid and holds zero.

Yugo Kalashnikov M70AB is based on the RPK, not the AK47, so the upper handguard is somewhat different (comparing my Yugo to the Russians, Chinese and Rumanians I have seen).

You gotta be careful buying AK parts for Yugo Kalashnikov pattern rifles.

The Ultimak is a great product, but it makes the rifle muzzle heavy (when an optic is added.) Some people really like this, I don't.

Good point, Carl. Yugo gas tubes and handguards aren't interchangeable with other AK variants (including RPKs). Ultimak does make a mount specifically for Yugos, though.

Yes, I have noticed that the handguards are different on the Yugo. The Iron Dot may be a good option, . . . if it will work on the Yugo. Other than that, the Ultimak for the Yugo will be my first choice.
