Where is the lowest priced revolvers? I'm going to be new at this & I want a break in gun. I'm looking for a cylinder load gun in a small caliber. I have shoot black powder in both side arms & long guns & used black powder in different grades so that isn't what I mean by new I just don't know where I want to spend my money yet. I'm just looking for something to through some lead at a low cost for now. I will more then likely go with a flint lock down the road & hang the starter on the wall.

Cabelas. If you are just getting started, I recommend a 58 Remington model. They arent as fussy as the Colt's.

Disclaimer: I currently do not own any 58 Remmingtons and own dozens of Colts; but, still believe a Remmie is the best starter gun.

my first and only pb gun is a 58 pietta its super easy to learn how to use and clean I got a 5 1/2 inch barrel. if i could go back I would have got a longer one so it would be better for hunting

I would second Cabelas... if you wait for a sale you can get some of their pistols for a hundred bucks! There was a sale a year ago and I purchased an 1851 Brass framed Navy for $99.

How about a 1851 Navy Brass for $180? I don't know the price on shipping but is that about as good as I'm going to do?

I second Fingers on the 1858 Remmie from Cabelas.
My first BP revolver was a Remmie.
I still own one, which I made into a snubbie, but I like Colts much better, and have 20+ of them.
Remmies are easy guns to own & use.
Less finicky than Colt repros.
They also retain their value better than the brass framed Colt repros
Whatever you spent, should you tire of the Remmie, you can get most of it back.
Used brass-framed Colt repros usually go for $100 or less.

1851 Brass

Cabelas bargain cave has 1851 navy brass 44s for 149.99. I'd spend the extra 50 on either the Remington or Colt steel frame revolvers. Twogun1975

Wait for a good sale at Cabela's. Maybe for Memorial Day or July 4th. I bought an 1851 brass .44 from Cabela's right before Christmas 2010 for $119.99. I paid no sales tax and it was delivered to my door with NO shipping charge. They offered free shipping for orders over a certain amount; I think it was $150.00. I simply bought something else to make up the difference. And that was easy because it was right before Christmas.

You're right. My bad. ;)

That's a nice 1851. Look no brass either. Just pure plastic. :p

Don't mind me...I'm in a weird mood tonight...strange, no full moon. :uhoh:

p.s. My bad again...apparently they are die-cast.

BTW, to the OP....I like that 1858 at Cabelas for $199 and free shipping.
