I gut a new CZ40p and was wondering if I should start using a light coat of lube on the rails and other moving part?

Also I have some high dollar synthetic reel grease that is thin and slick a snot and is made for baitcasting reel inners (yes I do a lot of fishing) this seems like it would be perfect since it also protects against water corrosion, what do yo think?

I say go for it and see how it runs, I use grease on slide rails, inside Smith wheelguns, and on M-1 and M-1As. About the only thing I use oil only on is an AR-15. My favorite grease right now is TW-25B, another is Slide-Glide from Brian Enos. Definitely do not run the pistol dry. I think grease protects from wear better than oil as long as the gun works okay with it.

Almost all manufactureres recommend a thin coat of quality oil on all wear areas. Generally not much more is needed.

I am with the guys on using grease, but I can't stress enough that a little goes a looooooooonnnnnnnggggg way. I very thin coating will serve you well. I personally use a graphite lube (I think it's Tetra-lube, but I am not at home right now, and I don't remember for sure), and just a tiny glob on the end of a Q-tip is enough to lube up the entire gun.

Ahhh! Slide-Glide! Tried it. It certainly does stick. I practically had to boil two 1911s to get the stuff out. :D Works great on garage door rails, too ...;)

TW25-B seems to leave the least accumulated junk. And it always seems like, after cleaning, everything is still slippery.

Even smells good. Sort of.

My only fear of using reel grease is that it might break down or start smoking in a gun. I would think its not really designed for the heat of a firearm. Would it work, yes, I'll bet it would. Might it break down faster than a gun specific grease? Possibly...

I use CLP and Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Never had a rust or operational problem with any of my guns due to lube issues.
