Lubricating cases. Necessary for Pistols?

I take an old wash cloth, spray a little Pledge on it and wipe .357 & .44 cases with it before running them through the resizing die. It works pretty well, but it's probably not necessary. It makes resizing a little smoother though. If nothing else it smells good and wipes off any dust therefore keeping the die a little cleaner.

I think "or maybe know" lubeing of straight walled handgun cases is not needed in regards of carbide sizing dies. It just doesn't make any difference in regards to making the die last longer, ect.

With that said, if someone wants to spray them with a lube, lube them by hand, wipe them with whatever, for whatever reason, have at it. I also know for a fact it does make sizing easier, no matter what type of lube is used. Heck I believe Peperation H would probably work wonders. I know for a fact dish washing detergent even works and is easily washed off. I will continue to lube my cases, not because I need to but because its easier, and gives me less pain.

After all this is a hobby, so lets do whatever makes us happy!

I ONLY load 9mm for now, lots of them. I wash and then dry range brass in my secret formula--found everywhere.

I very lightly use a plant mister with a mix of alcohol and a skosh of Lee Case Lube (wax base), let dry for a minute or three and then deprime. The light lube makes depriming and sizing much smoother-really.

Then I tumble (small amount of case polish is included) the sized & deprimed cases 'til shiny.

No extra cleaning off case lube is done. My turret press is much 'smoother' with this method. I also believe I get a better 'feel' at each die when loading.
