I recently purchased a 1914/1920 double date Luger in fairly good shape, however I have run into an issue with the trigger. First off it had the worst trigger pull I have ever come across when dry fired (I know I can hear the yelling already) . Secondly it will chamber a round, however no matter how hard you pull on the trigger the firing pin will not drop. I have taken it apart (thank you Utube) and noticed the trigger spring was all mashed up. I fixed it the best I could and it seems better than before, but I have not tried to fire a live round. I picked up a pack of snap caps and will try those tonight first. Just wondering if anybody else has run into this.

Thanks for you time and responses.

Yes, it usually results from someone trying to install the trigger and doing it wrong, then making muscle substitute for knowledge. Trigger springs are available, or any coil spring of the right size and tension can be used.

I advise fixing the trigger spring first; it could be the cause of your other problems.
